General Discussion Area / Crocodile Dundee
« on: 24 May 2021, 23:00:49 »
G'day,

(I am not a film critic and I do not want any other critics on here to comment on the film  ::) ::))

Just been watching Croc D on channel Film4 at 7.05. Now, I know all the storyline from that film made in the mid 80's. My brother worked on that film in Oz where most of the filming was made!! His name is on the credits.

I noticed that two scenes were very cleverly cut from the film. The scenes were obviously not for UK eyes. ::) wtf?
The scenes in question were when at a party when CD was warned by his taxi driver that the lady that fancied him was not a lady! so he checked by the most obvious way. That was cut out.
Next scene was at a different party he was at and he did the same thing but to a very dubious looking woman but she was the real thing :-*. That also was cut from the film. wtf?

Where are we going with this nonsense of censorship?

Mr angry from Kranki land  >:( >:(

General Discussion Area / Correct me if I am wrong?
« on: 19 May 2021, 23:02:59 »
I have been watching commercial tv for the last few nights. Very unusual for me as I never watch the damn thing or any other channels.
I have been working and been to most countries on this planet earth and any tv programmes in any country reflect the colour of the people of the country I am in .i.e. China have chinese newsreaders etc, and african countries have black newsreaders etc. Same with middle eastern countries.
Why, why have we got so many black actors in the adverts on itv and newsreaders etc on the BBC?
Not much reflection on the colour of this country. I cannot see this boding well in the long term.

Just noticed on tv that the new series 'Anne Boleyn' is to be played by a black actress! What is going on?

NOTE. if anybody has a dig at me about being 'racist' as I am not. Someone on here did before though.
So much for free speech!! :( :(

General Discussion Area / Pre program/film announcements

As above! WTF? I was watching a vet programme this evening and a warning before it started was: "there are some scenes that may upset some viewers" or some such drivel. These are episodes where surgery to animals is what it is all about! And should be shown fully.
With this covid crap going on, as many on here have I am sure watched some rubbish. Last week I watched a cowboy film made in the 1950's. (yea yea I know!) with Randolph Scott. The opening shot (pun intended} was a warning "With language and attitudes of the era that may now offend". What? I think we are breeding a generation of wusses!  :-\ :-\

Omega General Help / Battery/Starter/ Instruments Problem
« on: 04 February 2021, 18:07:55 »
Hiya all! hope everybody is safe and well.  :y
I had an issue with the battery/starter this morning as I had to go to the doc's. The solenoid only clicked but no turnover. I then checked battery voltage and that was just under 12.1 volt. Slow charged for an hour or so and everything seemed ok so turned starter and only solenoid clicking again.Tried again for a further 4 goes and it started! Left it running as my doc's appointment was due. Driving to the doc's I noticed I had no speedo/mph and both indicators were on (not flashing) . I left the car running when I saw the doc (just in case I could not get home) Coming back instruments were the same. Pulled lights module out and back in, no difference. I stopped engine when back home and tried the starter a few times, no problems but still no rev counter etc. I did isolate battery when charging! Any ideas guys? TIA

General Discussion Area / Tom Kerridge's Pubs!
« on: 14 November 2020, 18:16:28 »
Hiya from stranded Mallorca! I have been here since March! Anyhoo, I have been watching this guy tonight on BBC2 and he is trying to save British pubs. What I can gather is that he is a 'celeb' chef and does not even drink ffs. I know he owns a lot of pubs. What I can deduce is that all the pubs that he visits he is trying to change into those ghastly 'gastro joints' rather than I suspect us 'Oofers' who enjoy a proper boozer. Just saying! Covid must be catching up with me! P.S. hope to be back to the UK in mid-December before BREXIT takes hold.  :-\ :-\ P.P.S. pubs here are open as normal but have to wear masks at all times even in the street.

Hiya! After being over there for a while, I found my bonnet looking like this! The car was parked in a car park while I was away.

Any ideas guys?

General Car Chat / Corsa Rear Brakes: How much!!!!
« on: 13 April 2019, 10:46:44 »
Hello all.
I am over there at the moment (Mallorca) and the Corsa failed the ITV for faulty rear brakes after being left for 9 months. Put it into local garage this week and got it back yesterday with a bill for €350 (around £310). That included both sets rear pads, cylinders, springs etc. Does my fellow Oofers think that is a fair price or not? TIA.  :y :y

Omega General Help / Misfire and White Smoke
« on: 22 February 2018, 11:10:39 »
Hello again guys! Yesterday afternoon jumped into car and started her up, a couple of misfires when I stared moving. Then the MIL came on and a lot of white smoke came out of exhaust and seemed to be firing on 3 cylinders. I managed to get her home. This morning started her up, no problem at all. Waited until temps were up and then connected Scanmaster, no problem codes. But at the bottom of the scanner prog it indicated "distance travelled with MIL on 1km" Anybody got any idea what is going on? TIA.  :y

Hi guys! After a week with the Omega stuck in the snow, I managed to get it out yesterday. I drove it to the village with everything working ok, parked up for a couple of hours and jumped in to drive back home. No heater fan! Everything else works ok, panel lights etc. Now we have floods here but I did a reset, and checked fuse 33, all ok. Scuttle is clear. I am thinking it is the hedgehog! now where is the damn thing? and how to get to it? Cheers...TIA.  :y

« on: 06 July 2017, 09:35:41 »
Hi all! How easy is it to change a front brake caliper? My drivers side is seized and is causing a wobble and heating up the wheel. There does not seem to be a how to do in the maintenance section. TIA.  :y
