Point taken about speeding. But the electorate in reality usually dont know much about the person they are voting for.
The party machine spins things to make them all seem to be the lovechild of Attlee / Bevan / Churchill / Thatcher etc. etc. depending on the party and the Constituency.
People tend to vote for the party rather than the candidate, because it represents their views closer than the other parties.
Or often its just tribal loyalty like supporting a football team.
I just try and seek out the most right wing candidate, which is far from easy these days.
Maybe an automatic by election if found guilty of an offence which can carry a custodial sentence of a year or more ?
Although in theory, Police forces could target MP,s they dont like to try and get them convicted and get rid of them.
Many Police forces these days seem to be run by the Liberal left, so the Tories could be in a lot of trouble with that outcome.
