You'll be ok. You can get a thousand tins of Lidl beans for a tenner.

the 19.1% food inflation is based on many items,

the day to day food ordinary folk actually buy and eat has gone up considerably more

We order my dad his weekly shopping from Morrisons. We used to struggle to get the £40 minimum. Now we spend about £60 and no longer buy ready meals from Morrisons . It must be a problem for folk on a fixed income or no income. That and the ridiculous state of rent for accommodation.

£170 for us last week.  ::)
Mind you, son is living at home at the moment and he must have hollow legs. Built like a racing snake, but never stops eating.
He stands at the fridge stuffing his face with whatever is in there, while he is deciding what he is actually going to have for a meal. This happens several times a day ::)
Swmbo is also a complete convert to Waitrose now ,so that doesnt help either.  ;D

We like lots of fresh friut and veg, which seems to be the bits with the highest inflation on.

Still, its what "we" voted for...

Many of the items that make the 8.7% rate are items we don't buy from one week to the next, like a wide screen TV or fridge.

Food we buy and consume on a daily basis.

4 pints of milk was £1 until quite recently. Now £1.55....so a rise of 55%. Eggs much the same.

Presumably enjoyed  with a large serving of bread and dripping. :D

I have no idea on grocery prices.  I think I'd still banned from our big Tescos here....

That said, technically I'm still barred from the god awful Chequered Flag, no great loss given that piss tastes better and stronger than their draught beers. But I still go in....

Laptops seem to have a very limited life when placed in the hands of 'bunny boiler' women. ::)
