I read somewhere today that technology has reached a temporary plateau and the leading tech companies are looking at ways to increase sales. Wait for the next development: a smart kettle that you can switch on remotely when you're a few minutes from home.  ;) ;D ;D

No good for me..... ::) ::)

What I do need is something that can type my thoughts, so info from meetings, visits etc I can 'think' to be typed to be added to where they need to be........in the old days we had a dictaphone and typists....... ::) ::) they have gone and nothing has replaced them, as far as I am aware -  so much for progress.... :( :(

I'm expecting an announcement of a surgically attached phone, like a cochlear implant.
Make it small enough and we'll effectively become telepathic.

I had a smart watch when I were a lad (and it were all fields round here) - you could tell the time and change tv channels!

The funny thing is that in 1960 sci-fi films and tv productions "futuristic" all in one devices, in the form of wrist watches, were being spoken into and we sensed it was only a matter of time for these to became a reality!  :D :D ;)

Whatever next?

How about a smart television that when turned on its side the picture turns the right way up?

I worked for a company 20 years ago that developed all sorts of stuff. Just one thing they were working on was a chip implant that recorded everything your eye saw in your lifetime. Only a matter of time with miniaturisation.

A good question to ask would be do we actually need all this stuff? maybe the manufacturers are inventing stuff and then the marketing men trick us you into thinking you need and must have. Sort of a reason to operate the daily treadmill. Just a thought.

Well said Varche, but they don't have to resort to too much trickery, as the number of blokes (?) Who MUST have the latest 'GT. Whizzbang. Smart. NWICUT' gadget just to say they have it, is ever increasing...  :(

As is the number of old fellas who pretend they don't need this stuff, when actually, they don't understand it ::) nothing wrong with that of course, but lets call a spade a spade aye. ;)

For example, the previously mentioned dictaphone app is a VERY easy app to conceive and freely available on most, and I imagine ALL smartphone platforms. In fact Siri, being voice activated on the iphone, could probably open it, say in a car, and record a voice memo without touching the device. ... If a suitable hands free was fitted to the car. Or in normal use just press and speak to either voice memo or talk to notes via Siri, where it will type what you speak. (If you speak clearly ;D )

The technology exists, but of course, weather you choose to use it or not is up to you obviously ;)

Edit, Siri can't open an app. on a jail broken device. I just tried it. ;D Clearly I'm getting old ;D

But it can type what you speak. ;)
