If I recall correctly, CE esquire was a follow up to the Budgie series, but didn't get broadcast due to some kind of industrial dispute, and then when that was over it wasn't aired. This is back in the day before even Channel 4 was created.

Minder was a shameless rip off, but turned out much better due to the genius of George Cole.

Only two of the six episodes at first were aired due to the strike. By the time the other four had been shown minder had started, I think if it hadn’t had bad luck minder would have played second fiddle to it myself. Ian Cuthbertson was a true gentleman and played the part excellently.

I love watching these old TV series from years ago , especially when they start talking about money "£20 ? are you having a laugh ! " probably a weeks wages to some people then.
