I despair of our judiciary
« on: 17 February 2023, 17:24:06 »

Just Stop Oil activists were told they should feel “proud” as they avoided jail time for blocking the Esso Fuel Terminal in Birmingham last April.

The sentence should be challenged and the judge sacked. He doesn't get to say which laws it's okay to break/ignore. Twát.

I am not a violent man, but certain situations make me feel like slowly throttling the life out of someone. In this case, several someones.

By whom?

The judiciary is independent of government. They are there for as long as they want regardless of some crazy arse decisions they make. ;)

God himself can not sack a judge.... >:D >:D ::)

The new breed of judge are increasingly woke so expect more decisions like this.

100 years ago these protestors would have been swinging from a rope by noon. 8)

It would serve his right if one of his family gets held up in an emergency on the way to hospital by these wasters, justice would be served on the idiotic prick then☠️

The Home Secretary can challenge the sentence and refer it to the court of appeal. Judges are assigned cases, this one should be assigned motoring offences.

It would appear that the version of events we have been fed is taken from a statement issued by just stop oil, and is not a true version of what the judge said.
From the BBC:

Judge praises Birmingham oil protesters' 'admirable aims' https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-64683048

Up until 1998 the UK still had the death penalty for treason and in fact it was only in 1973 that beheading for treason was abolished.

Today a British man was convicted of spying for Russia and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

So, out after half of that and, of course, fully reformed and no longer a threat to the country. ::)
