On an allied topic, Santa brought me a YouView box, which I am happy with but apparently I need an Internet connection to be able to watch past programmes. How do I go about this? I have a BT Voyager modem for my computer, but I need something posher, yes?
Also, as I am on a BT Basic tariff, will downloading previously broadcast programmes go way over my download allowance and cost me a pension-breaking amount of money? Thanks in advance for your help, folks, and a happy New Year to all.

Ron.

I've just bought 5 litres of Triple QX ATF Dexron III 5 Litre (5L) Automatic Transmission Fluid from "carpartsaver" on Ebay, as compared to £10 per litre from my local High Street factor, which I reckoned wasn't bad.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention any links to the Ebay posting on here, so I won't, for now.

Are you sure it was entirely his fault? Before anyone is allowed to purchase a Bum-Wee they have to undergo an intensive course at the Company-run PratSchool and unless they pass they are denied the purchase.
I like the cars, but could never own one for that reason, unless it were a prize in a competition, as my wife spotted in a magazine recently: that way, the competition organisers would be the "owners" and THEY would have to go on the PratCourse, so I wouldn't have to! :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Rear cigar lighter.

Thanks to you all. My money has to be on the one I overlooked, Fs27 - accessories.
The main and ignition-switched socket served by Fs14 also supplies a lot of other things that do work, so I'll go looking.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Driver's seat height motor.
« on: 29 November 2013, 10:54:57 »
My seat no longer lifts or lowers, het I hear a "clonk" (solenoid?) when I change from lift to lower and vice versa. Is there a separate fuse for the drive motor, or am I going to have to remove the seat, etc., to investigate?

When checking the voltage available at the rear cigar lighter on my '51 Reg. Omega, I inadvertently shorted the thing out, hence no voltage at all!
Is there a separate fuse for this item and if so, where is it located, please, as car wiring diagrams are a nightmare, even to me, an Electronics Engineer with a lifetime's experience!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Current drain from battery.
« on: 12 November 2012, 09:15:01 »
My battery went flat after a few days of non-use, so assuming the 6 year old battery had seen its last, I bought a new one, but it still happened. With everything off, there is approx. 1 Amp discharge from the battery. I took the fusible links out one at a time from the box over the battery, and removing the middle one from the group of three stopped the drain. I cannot identify which items are served by this fuse; can anyone help?
It has been suggested that there might be a leaky diode in the alternator, but when I put my meter, on AC volts, across the battery there is only a tiny reading, so no significant AC on the output from the alternator.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Stereo Code
« on: 12 November 2012, 08:41:42 »
Great help from you on here, Dave. I have a strange problem with my radio, in that I tried to remove it but could only get it out about 2/3 of the way. Something seemed to be holding it back - the leads? So, after repeated unsuccessful attempts to get it out, I tried to put it back in. It wouldn't go! It goes back to within about an inch or so of fully in, but no further. Surely this should be a simple job? Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. Actually, I'm not a total newcomer but my web browser, Lycos, has taken a nose-dive and I've had to re-register with a new email account, the dreaded Hotmail!
I've had good experiences of this site in the past and hope to continue.
Fingers crossed, no specific problems at the moment, apart from a dead battery necessitating my finding the radio code from somewhere - the mean bugger that sold it to me didn't provide the code!
Thanks,
Ron.
