Omega General Help / Knocking from rear

I have had a knocking start on what appears to be my rear right, this only happens once i have done a lot of stop starting appears to be no more then 4 knocks (when pulling away) and away you go.  Yesterday driving home it appeared to come from the middle of the car (Diff Area). Recently had the diff oil changed and the underneath  (rubbers) checked when they did the oil. Any ideas?

Omega General Help / ABS/TC Lights

You mat remember a while ago my omega would not drive without the T/C light on. On Saturday put on Tech 2 at local garage (Free b) and it came up with the sensors on the front wheels were not conected  (Old ones were still conected and hanging in engine bay) connected the ones on wheels and car runs fine, untill you drive away and the ABS/ T/C lights both come on. Speedo still works and so does steering car drives fine. The only thing that comes up on Tech 2 is replace unit. The lad that was doing it said that a new unit was expensive. Is it possible that this unit was a replacement and not configurated? No other fault codes showing. Dont want to pay out unless I have to.

Omega General Help / ABS Light

ok, here goes, ABS light comes on car runs ok I still have speedo and power steering. If it does not come on car does not drive properlyas if T/C cuts in. Had Tec 2 on today (Kevin thanks) but it would not read anything from the ABS/TC.

Played around and could still find nothing. Started car ABS light stayed off and did this four or five times so we decided to pull the fuse. ABS light comes on, no speedo but drives ok.

Any one help with what to do next or come across this before :-?? suppose to be going to Cornwall for Christmas

How do you get the fault codes from the ABS Control unit? Is it the same as the paperclip test ?

Omega General Help / Replaced TPS

This follows on from ny last request, intermittant fault when pulling away from starting up, Fuel consumpsion goes to 999. Replaced the TPS and it is still happening, more when I have 1/4 tank or less. :-?

 Any ideas of next step, no faults showing up and when it goes it is great.

Omega General Help / ABS Sensor Bolts

I have just come back from having oil change on the diff (Garage had deal) and I have looked on the invoice and they have typed on :-
Advice

Securing bolts missing from ABS Sensors :-?

The car has just been MOTd and no problems, is this something that could cause knocking to come from back axle, and should the bolts be replaced immediatly.

The ABS light does come on when you go over a pot hole but other wise it stays off.

Omega General Help / Fuel Problem

I have what appears to be an intermittant fuel problem when starting the car. The car starts no problem and ticks over fine (600 RPM). Fuel comsumpsion says 0.3.

Now not always but some times I put it into Drive and when accelorate fuel comsumption goes to 999 and I have no power car just judders along.

Switch off ignition start again and it goes ok. I have had a full service, replacer the fuel filter twice but now at my wits end, it has been on a Tech 2 and nothing. When running the car is great.

Any ideas before the wife gets her way and I have to get rid off it.

Have just come back with MOT refusal, one thing:-

Anti-lock bracking system warning lamp does not illuminate (Never seen it illuminate since had the car).

How do I check if its the bulb or if something more serious?

its a 1998 3.0 elite (Ex blue & White)

Omega General Help / Juddering from back axel

Whilst driving in to work to day (Had done 20 Miles) stop at traffic lights, went to pull away and got a juddering from the back axel . It hasent done this around town only after a run and warmed up.
It was like the traction control was cutting in, but my TC switch is not working. Once picked up speed it was back to normal untill the next set of lights and did the same when I pulled away.

When I purchased my Omega it came with just one key, I remember my last omega was remote locking.

Is it just a case of going to a VX dealer and they supply or something a bit more complicated and an empty wallet?

  To every one that gave advice on my intermitant problem thankyou, changed fuel filter now Fingers crossed it is going like a dream.

Followed the advice to change it, took an hour but saved me a fourtune.

Omega General Help / Oil on Spark Plug

I have just taken plugs out to give them a look at properly and have found that the 2nd on the left had oil on the outside of it.

Does this mean the cam gasket has gone?

Also when I was in the garage getting price of other parts I was told that the car will never be the same is that right?
 I dont want to go spending a lot as alread getting earach from wife over car not working more than it has been on the road.

Omega General Help / Intermittant fault

Can any one help, I have tried many other sites and nothing.
I have a 1998 3.0 V6 (Auto box) estate omega with 97,500 on the clock.
Starts first time and ticks over great, put it in to drive great, now sometimes it will go like a dream other times you accelerate and their is no power (Does not do it in reverse).

I have had the gearbox checked no faults, I have had 4 diagnostic checks no fault codes  , please any one else had this problem or know what to do to fix it?
