The main reason I had never considered a RR is the horror stories of running costs, I have every bill for this vehicle & all seem fairly reasonable to me , the OE air suspension pump fitted at 60,000 miles was £653.00  I had far bigger bills on the Hyundai.

Did a lot of reading up on the engines used in Range Rovers very little praise for the 4.4 the 2.7 should be avoided as considered underpowered , 5.0 supercharged superb but will struggle to achieve 15mpg the best is considered to be the 3.6 twin turbo capable of between 19-31mpg & bags of torque. I have got 30 mpg on a run & 25 on my daily commute virtually the same as my old Terracan.

The engine is closely related to the TDV6 in my Jag (although the 3l TDV6 is more related to the 4.4 V8, with the 2.7 TDV6 closer to the 3.6 TDV8).  They don't sound lorry like, do they :)
.

Not one bit , I managed to get a 2007 sales brochure  from eBay they came with a sports exhaust system as standard and sound superb, the TDV8 is only 1.5 seconds slower in the 0-60mph sprint than the  5.0 petrol supercharged version, so quite a fast vehicle considering it weigh 2.7 tons.

Noice, very nice.

Year, engine? I might have missed posts elsewhere.. Now Tilbo can get himself over to https://www.rrsport.co.uk - second most helpful forum I've found after OOF as there are actual technical people there ;) (Like OOF)

It was registered Nov 2007 1 owner full history now on 87,000 miles 3.6 V8 twin turbo , never even considered a Land Rover but after seeing & driving this had to have it
It's an HSE so got everything apart from a television.
Is that the tractor powered TDV8 lump?

I am liking that :)

Yes TB it is & what an engine indeed it's a Ford V8 twin turbo doesn't sound like a diesel & roars like a proper V8
never ever thought about a Range Rover but drove this & just had to have it , most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven , and by the by glad to be back.😎

Majority of thieves want to be away in under a minute, brand new range rovers can be done in that time, if it comes to having to hack a decent steering lock off they will go elsewhere

Sorry to have derailed you thread Tilbo  :-[

No problems, I am probably more security conscious than the average person because of my job (HMPS) but these people ( thieving bastards) who like to steal hardworking honest people's property are getting cleverer all the time , shame to see it nicked & broken for parts but I well realise what could happen.😎

Have always fitted an extra lock on every 4x4 I've owned so doesn't really cause me any bother but I know fully well it can still go I'm under no illusions whatsoever if it gets nicked I'm insured , an inconvenience yes but would it change my life ? It's just a car.

Lovely machine . Hate to say it but please put a disclock on the steering wheel as these are extremely easy to steal, I'd hate you to lose it !

I've cut off Disclocks in under 5minutes with a Leatherman Wave.......
Tubular lockpicks are even cheaper.
.

At the end of the day if they want it they'll get it always garaged when not in use you can only do so much.😉

In the end, this country will get exactly what it deserves. We are no longer a United Kingdom, nor a Great Britain. We are a pathetic little island full of foreigners, squabbling among each other while other countries snigger at us and buy up all of our companies.
Unfortunately, there are still a class of people about who think we are still a world power. I'm sick of hearing about how we are the fifth richest country in the world. No, we are not. We generate the fifth largest amount of money in the world, but then spend it on welfare payments for no hopers and lazy bastards. Any thing that is left is squandered on the bottomless pit which is called the NHS ( no, not the finest in the world, just the most expensive).
I've had it with this shithole, and I feel very sorry for the younger, indigenous population.
.

Couldn't have put it better myself, just hate to think what's in store for my Grandsons in a few years hate to say it but hope I'm pushing up daisies by then.

No knob head Liverpool comments please  ::) !

Yes I know have got one my pal had his Defender pinched last year & his had a disclock & tracker made a right mess of it, now got a Ford Ranger Truck no comparison in my opinion but he seems happy with it.

:y :y Same engine & spec as mine, but yours looks cleaner (I mean that both in the "washed" and better condition sense! Mine is parked under a tree and is now covered in pollen and leaves .. and has a few dings)

You can much more easily upgrade the stereo in the pre-facelift interior, I believe.. not many options for mine (2010, facelifted interior) beyond retro-fitting 2012/13 gear or the single Android option, both of which are (very) expensive.
.

Always garaged from new and also fits in mine now I've got rid of junk , wifey is not a car person but t even she could not believe how comfortable it is.

Certainly does. And for once good to see a car that actually makes its figures. Or mpg figures that aren't grossly overstated. Depending on how you look at it.

I waved my terracan off about a week ago. Was sad to see her go, but also knew for sure she needed £500 to get a new MOT, so it was the time to shift her.  :-\
.

Had my Terracan for just over 7 years never let me down once paid £5450 for it from its first owner with 25,000 miles showing sold it for £1250 with 86,000 miles on the clock.

Glad to have you back sir!  8)

What's the MPG like on the V8? I read that the bigger tdv8 is slightly better. Then again, at the price you got it for... :y
.  The least I've had is 25 mpg the best last weekend went to see my Brother in law who lives in Ninfield near Battle 332 miles there & back put in 50 litres so 30mpg very happy with that the Terracan used to do 32 but the RR is a much nicer place to be ,the acceleration is very good for a vehicle weighing 2.7 tons. It is 1.5 seconds slower on the 0-60mph than the 5.0 supercharged so is ample for me.
Official figures are..
Urban 19mpg
Mixed 25mpg
Best    31mpg
So more or less spot on & gives a good indication of the condition of the vehicle.

Well I'm back under a new name had a lot of problems with our internet which my Grandson tried to sort out as I don't have a clue ! Anyhow Merc has gone back to MTSV & may be going to a buyer in Hong Kong he also bought the Terracan from me in readiness for the winter. I have now got a vehicle I thought I would never buy a Range Rover Sport ! It's a one owner with full history with 87,000 miles 3.6 V8 twin turbo & I absolutely love it.😎

The V8 part of the equation has much to commend it.... :y

But, unless I'm mistaken, the 3.6 twin turbo part means it runs on the fuel of Satan. :-X

Are you aware of this, Mr Tilbo?.........if so what is your defence? ::) ::) ::) ::) ;)
.

It sounds awesome is my only defence Lord Opti, if it's good enough for royalty ( my employer her maj) it's fine for me one of her humble employees.😉 The other thing is it was an absolute bargain, and us Lincolnshire folk do like a good deal..
