General Car Chat / Re: PHEV

I have a mate who has the 360BHP Pug 5008SW (I think) and he averages 80 MPG he says, he is an advanced driver and relies on his licensee for his job so having the power under foot for him is a waste as he never uses it.

Other than him I dont know any other PHEV owners .

No way I want an EV
Never wanted a Diesel

I saw a few Audi A8 PHEV listed on Auto trader a while back, they tick a lot of boxes for me but just not the estate option but I can live with that.  Plus the AWD adds to the tick list for all the snow we get in the UK  ::)

If I do buy a PHEV it would only be after borrowing/renting for maybe 2 days to give it drive it a like I stole it test drive then a MPG test run.

After looking into business car insurance and looking at all things related, it would be as shame to start racking up up high mileage on the Omega Its only 58k on it and is hardly used, so to suddenly add 400/800 a week on it is a shame and at 22/34MPG is* rather expensive to run.

Googled the most Economical PHEV to see what came and was surprised to see the MG HS with a quoted     564.96 mpg 299BHP and 6.8 0 to 60 was there as an option with a Toyota Yaris.

Not as ugly as the early modern MG cars.
 :-X
But might at least go have a test drive. ::)

With the high mileage I would prefer something more spacious like the old Senator or the Scorpio 2.9

Would happily go for comfort over MPG, but even returning half that MPG  is over 10x the Omega

Any thoughts for a comfy economical suggestion welcome (Prefer and estate) :y

Well quite impressed with the 1st call back. :y

Basically got  call from the company, not sure if it was the one given above, but it's a sister company with Adrian Flux.

£340 quoted for 10K business miles and 2K private.   ::)

No limit on goods in transit.  That bit seemed as they usually find a way to milk the quote.

Still looking. :y

Not wanting it for selling cars,  But more similar to maybe a courier service,   As I am looking for business Insurance rather than a domestic car policy.  As you say its a mine field and it's knowing what to define what I require and then what questions to ask.

Tried a comparison site then realized it was just collecting data rather than show prices like the popular sites. Although it did show me a site with prices from £234

No rush, will try again later. :y

Running through some ideas and considering different options.  Maybe looking for Trade Insurance in the future so thought it worth pricing up in advance.

Not sure if any members have trade cover but wondering if any companies outshine other or if they all just as bad as domestic policies with all the small print etc.

Will be for 2 people any car etc, but a least 1 named vehicle.

Off to see if there are any comparison sites.   :y

Some nuts turned up that were ordered online, but they have just ordered and dispatched direct from a dealer, and they've managed to cock that up somehow.  I'm waiting for them to get back to me, but they are waiting for the dealer to get back to them, so my chances of fitting the new arms this weekend is diminishing fast.
And the company I ordered from - LR Centre Ltd - are absolutely useless trying to sort it out.  Lack of timely responses, no phone number to call, and when I do eventually get a response, it's just a load of 'dangle berries'.

Useless 'tards

I thought the law had changed and all web sites had to give phone numbers.

You'd probably baulk at my travelling expenses.  :-X

A penny a mile seems more than fair. :)

I can do it for you :y

I saw a video that Mr Bean made.  You will need 2 5 litre tins of paint, box of matches, and 2 supersonic air bombs.

£20 for fuel should suffice. :y

Hi, Welcome to the forum. :y

Have a look in the maintenance guides, there is a wealth of information there for the whole engine range. :y

If a fuse had popped, would it shut down just the fan or the heating/vent system as a whole.?

Something to consider.

Old boiler efficiency verses new. :-\

Plus the future of Hydrogen change over.

I had mine serviced in November and asked what the future plans were.

He said they have already started to introduce Hydrogen in to the system at 10% and would steadily increase it, this would allow time for people to upgrade or get their boilers re jetted.

My neighbor had a new boiler fitted 2/3 years ago and is Hydrogen ready, will just require the jets changed during a service. :y

Not used the car since Aug when I tested it. :-[

Couple of issues radio in safe mode,  I forgot how to reset, just looked it up I forgot the bit of powering the radio holding the AS button.
 :-X
The odd one was the fan stopped working.  I have had odd random issues starting from a dead battery in the past , like dead dash dials, then active and dead again,  Really odd but when charged and car restarted no more issues.

This fan problem,  I can hear all the vents open and close depending choice.  But the fan speed lights work, but no fan active.
 :-\
I know things like sunroof and windows can be reset with a procedure, but before investigating it deeper, is there a reset procedure for the fan controller. looked through the maintenance guides maybe I missed a guide.

Any advice or is it a failed fan motor?
