Van tax
« on: 21 September 2010, 18:40:40 »

Need to get the Van taxed, as it's currently down a private road and obviously can't be used, now as I'm possibly the only motor trader in the world without Trade Insurance, I need to get some rent on it ASAP, like tomorrow, the Merc should be going sometime this week and I'm not into using the beemer at the moment because of the fuel costs and the rest of the stuff I have are little cars too.

Now I need an insurance certificate for the van to get the tax, it's already insured as I done that earlier, but the certificate won't be here for I don't know how long. Is there anyway around this? I keep meaning to get bloody trade insurance, I will do it this week!

Ask a motor trader Del, they should know about such things. ::)

Go and ask someone with motor trade insurance to do it for you. I do this for people on occasions. Only with friends who I know, or people I trust and know have insurance but no cert. They either buy a car from auction with me or whatever and I'll tax it for them with my trade policy so save them having to wait, and in the mean time drive it to mine under trade plates until it is correctly licenced. You must know someone with a trade policy?
I would get a traders policy asap, many 'normal' policies exclude 'for motor trade purpouses'. I know someone who was caught out, and got in a whole heap of trouble.

Yeah mate I know, I keep saying I'm going to do it, but then never get round to it. If they e-mail me one I'll get it done tomorrow  :) Or I do have a couple of other traders I know, so I'll give them a call.

If you're going to tax it this week Del, you'll lose nearly a months worth. You can start the tax from the end of this month but, of course, you can't drive it till the end of the month.

Can you get a copy of the certificate online? a lot of companies do just to save them sending out reams of paperwork

as long as all the info is on the database do it on line. the insurers are usually quite quick in this area.( not keen on queues ) :)
