Twinings off to Poland
« on: 06 November 2010, 20:21:24 »

How come Twinings get a £10m EU grant (i.e part of our tax income) to move to Poland and lose 286 UK jobs? And, to add insult to injury, the workers are having to teach the Poles to do the jobs they're about to lose.

Sometimes, the unions have the right idea and rightly opposed this action (but, it seems they haven't won the day). It is quite wrong for the EU to dish out grants for UK firms to relocate. If a company wants to relocate, it should pay from its own money.  >:(

I'd teach them well. Make sure they remember to urinate over the tea for an example

what more can you expect in a country that sees extreme profit before loyalty to its own people. there will be nothing left here within 10 years except poverty and crime, thanks to the eu who want us destroyed and with the help of labour and the tories who are giving them a helping hand

I can't see Lloyds of Bucharest having quite the same ring to it as Lloyds of London, somehow.

They would retain the name - just move the HQ to Bucharest (or wherever else they would pay the least tax) ;)
HSBC is currently considering moving from Canary Wharf to somewhere on foriegn shores with a less restrictive regime.

Mugs away , round two. This was going to happen anyway. The EU grant just kept the jobs in the EU.

Where was the dissent over cadburys and the Kraft takeover and destruction of British Jobs?

We just sit back (and moan on a few forums) and let it happen.

We let the Europeans buy all of our infrastructure with nary a murmur despite them doing so by very effectice tax breaks (since changed). Alliance and Leciester, Electric companies, airports. the list is endless.  Like I keep saying wake up and smell the coffee or in this case tea......

I believe Twinings are "under investigation" as the money is supposedly only for "new" jobs .. not for re-location of jobs.

Bet you some EU official will find some way of saving his arse by declaring it a legal transaction  :(
