Mint panel work and interior 125k miles with FSH but sadly an mot failure with usual rot on chassis legs and rear belt anchor points/sill.Not sure what to do. It's a cliche but too good to break :)

Very nice :y
Is it still on the original MV6 LSC front and rear springs?
-
Only got it this morning, no doubt will find out soon.
Might have some in the shed though :D
-
have you got a welder or know someone who can do it for you.
when youve worked on 70's 80's cars for years and dealt with the crumbling mess that they can become nothing on an omega would ever write one off corrosion wise unless its a seaside car.(salty air !)
they usually rust on the rear arches, under the sill covers and rear arch lower/ inner section and front inner wings / chassis but its all relatively easy access areas.
if the body is as good as it looks in the pictures its certainly too good to scrap but thats just my opinion.people have srapped less in the past and saved worse so its down to your choice/abilities/friends or finances !

Certainly does look to good to break, personally I would try & get it repaired and MOTd all comes down to cash though obviously.

Nocturno blue?
-
Certainly is :)

Can you tell me what is the biggest rust issue?
Almost every Opel Omega ( beside rear wheel arches) is rusting at that point between firewall
/bulkhead steering column, so I'm wondering is the same issue with Vauxhalls.
Also I never saw these kind of front bumpers on Opels, I really like it. :y
Btw agree with the rest, she looks too god to be scraped.

The biggest rust issue is the one you mentioned; the chassis rails forward of the bulkhead.
If you catch it in time, then they can be patched relatively easily to give a few years more life. But to do a proper job, or one that has rusted really badly, there are a lot of parts that need to be removed, and some awkward fabrication done. This isn't viable on a car that's worth £2 at best. That's especially true when you consider that if a car is bad here, then there will be more rust elsewhere.

the front bumper is made by Prodrrive :y in the UK it came on the facelift MV6 and sport models

I think that price is a bit optimistic though :P
-
Perhaps, but unlike the standard bumper, you cannot get replacements and the towing eye cover is probably worth £50-60 on its own.
The foglights are a nice bonus but they're identical to the ones on the standard facelift.
And it's significantly cheaper than an Irmscher bumper ;)

Seen that before, I'm far richer than I thought! LOL
-
Yeah me too, asking more than I paid for the whole car :D
-
Prodrive bumpers are made of plastic
Omegas are made of metal which rusts :(
so, the value of prodrive bumpers will decline when most of the Omegas have rusted away and the remaining Omegas have prodrive bumpers already fitted .
probably not a commodity to invest ALL ones life savings in :P
I purchased mine cheap ,and because it was cheaper than repairing the battle damage on the original ;D

Very nice car! :y

Sadly found more killer rot at all 4 corners so sold it as is.
