Thanks guys, given my current situation caring for my wife, I am looking forward to a break. We have stayed there 3 or 4 times previously, and it is a beautiful villa in a lovely area. If 8 share the cost it is quite reasonable. I should own up that our trips there are courtesy of my daughter.

Thanks Al, believe it or not, when I joined BA in the ‘70s, every month during my first year on 707s I did a 7 or 10 day trip to the Caribbean, shuttling between islands every couple of days. Having previously been flogging around the North Atlantic at low level in Shacks then Nimrods for up to 12 hours while in the RAF, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. 😁

They still do that, only the trips are 3-5 days as most Caribbean destinations are daily, so crew utilisation is much higher than it used to be... You may well have a crew change at St Lucia ;)

I believe the only 10 day trip now is Heathrow /Singapore/Sydney/Singapore/Heathrow. Although with the current situation, Tokyo may well no longer be direct :-\ (note to self to investigate that).

Yes that figures, talking to retired a Captain friend tonight, he tells me that it is no picnic for BA flight crew these days, I think I had the best years of it. I was often able to take family members on good trips.
