Can I ask how much detergent etc you used for that? I am thinking of flying back to help my parents do their rooms.

I got through a litre which was 9.99, only needed to go over it once  but I think more would have been needed if heavily messy.

The fluid pops up on ebay every so often when people have bought too much or you can use other stuff which is cheaper.

I used a Rug Doctor on my carpets last year, I would recommend that after the initial clean you give the carpets a warm clean water rinse and treat with scotch guard or similar.

It doesn't leave the carpet that wet, I'ts best to choose a time when a good weather forcast is given, preferably sunny if  the rooms get the sun so as you can open the windows and let the sun air it out. Try and avoid using the room until it is compleatly dry.

We use a Vax Pro that we bought while on offer and it is used regularly. The room is dry within 30 minutes and the carpets are looking klike new due to the contr-rotating brushes and the ability to stop or start the soap, rinse, and brushes at will. A final going over slowly with just the suction going and they are virtually dry anyway.
Tried the rug doctor before we bought it and it was rejected due the time it took for the carpets vto dry and the condensation it caused while they did.
4 rug doctor cleans, including the fluid cost and you could buy the Vax Pro anyway...... ;)
