Estate performance
« on: 01 April 2007, 09:18:12 »

Hi Guys

I am selling my 3 MV6 salon, as I could do with an estate to throw all my Jaguar spares into ;D

I am looking at a 2002 3.2 MV6, I believe the 0-60 time is noticeably less with the estate.  Can any one collaborate this or give an example.

(both autos)

I don't see why an estate would be noticeably slower. Ok, it's got another hundred kilos or so of weight but the drivetrain is the same. I wouldn't expect it to differ by more than a couple of tenths to 60, and that'd be unnoticeable in normal driving.

Quite a lot faster than putting a roof rack and box onto a saloon with the bits in. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not sure if its accurate, but according to
http://www.carenthusiast.com/ncar0409/omega_s9.htm
and
http://www.carenthusiast.com/ncar0409/omega_s0.htm

0-62 mph (sec.): auto: 9.5 / manual: 8.5    saloon

0-62 mph (sec.): auto: 10 / manual: 9     estate

So not much

Yes, the manual version is faster, just only Police spec 2002/2003 3.2MV6s in manual :'(
I think its going to have to be an auto, unless I'm lucky.  I should have my XJR on Wendsday as replacement for my old XJ40, so will just have to make do with that for some zoom.

well I swapped a 3.0 saloon for a 3.2 estate (both facelifts and autos) - I reckon the extra few HP & Nm of the 3.2 offset the extra weight of the estate ... more or less.

Performance seems similar ... the estate does sound different though ...

I think the aerodynamics of the estate have a small bearing on the speed  /drag factor.  Not born so slippy.
