I read somewhere it was £4.2m

Would be good to see that go past at full tilt  8)

This comment at the end of the article will just put more money in the legal eagle pockets

Nick Freeman, the lawyer nicknamed “Mr Loophole”, who writes for The Sunday Times, warns that any new fines would be open to challenge.

“The first thing is the legal principle called de minimis, which means it’s so slight that it’s not really infringing the law,” he said. “At 51mph, 52mph [on a 50mph road], you are certainly de minimis. It would be an enormous waste of taxpayers’ money to pursue this type of very trivial prosecution.”

From my Autel
P1781 - ECM actual torque signal - malfunction detected
P1740 - AT torque control. signal malfunction

Looks like something to do with gearbox, Pending codes tend to clear with ign off/on

I'd Wait to see if they come back then do something, cam sensor is used by AT ecu

I think when my Omega eventually dies it'll be something dull but practical like a Mundano estate.....  :-\

That's my current choice to replace mine, apart from another mig, main factor is the fold flat rear seats

Also the Merc E class estate to keep rear wheel drive and some luxury/toys

Guess which Mr Beanz recommended during a recent conflab  ::) :-X

Omega General Help / Re: rough idle 2.2
« on: 17 July 2015, 22:34:48 »
Saw this again tonight.

Now running perfectly when on gas, but not so clever on petrol, so the air leak has helped, but not fully resolved.

Current snapshot
http://images.omegaowners.com/images/Jimbob/hosted_for_others/fdsnap3.csv

And Old and New data together

http://images.omegaowners.com/images/Jimbob/hosted_for_others/fdsnapcompare.csv

It is clearly still knocking.  Given its LPG and therefore doesnt use much petrol, I wonder if the injectors are not as clear as they should me.  Is there pehaps some mileage in half a tank of vpower and injector cleaner, and ragging it on petrol for a 100 miles or so?

Assume that snapshot is on petrol. Did you see if when on LPG the knock was inactive? just to know the sensor is OK
O2 loop is still Open and should be Closed, so it is seeing something wrong somewhere, although with RPM not down to desired could still be in warm up phase when loop is open.

LONGFT1 is not available in both snapshots BUT if this is high it could be trying too hard to get this down (sensor1 lean) and causing the rough idle. LPG ECU appears to ignore LONGFT1 at idle on mine AFAICT

As you suggest a run on petrol would be good, just to let the fuel trims reset after all the rough running. Maybe with some injector cleaner or VPower if this makes no difference
LPG should always operate correctly if petrol is, but sometimes despite it, IME

If its the engine block looking light (Emissions Warning Light) there might not be a permanent code (resets with ign off). Spanner through car light (Service or Maintenance light) is normally when there is a code.  EML normally goes out after a while, 3 starts without the problem I think.

If your "D900 thingy" resets codes this should make the light go out. If it comes back on first thing to do is stop using supermarket fuel. Need codes if that don't cure it

Jimbob

My reading of those shows O2 loop open (should be closed) all the time making SHORTFT1 remain at 0% (should fluctuate +ve -ve). IME it seems to then operate under a standard MAP so all other fuel trim data can't be trusted.

Also MAF reading is high, normally 10-12 kg/h at tickover
And Knock control should be inactive at tickover

Not all faults make the spanner light come on straight away, so you might think that it is clear and something else is making O2 loop open

Does it start judder when codes cleared and then settles before you can get a read of live data ?

So is it the air leak, probably, we'll see  ::)
or MAF, could be  :-\
or knock sensor , probably not, just active because of miss fire/juddering

HTH   :y

edit: only benefit to blanking EGR is to test if it's permanently open as this causes miss fire like an air leak

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 loosing coolant - head gasket?
« on: 08 July 2015, 18:17:22 »
In SIR Phillbutt's maintenance guide on replacing head gasket on a 2.2, he instructs 'have cylinder head skimmed (compulsory) and tested'. When i changed the cylinder head gasket on my daughter-in-law's Rover Streetwise in January, I laid a straight edge along the head, it looked good, so I reassembled with new gasket without more ado. Is the head skim really compulsory?

That was stated as have to state, if not said someone wont and you never know

I took mine to the skimming chap and he measured first, found to be slightly out so had it skimmed anyway. Mine had actually gone bone dry and overheated before I noticed, as I was motorway driving. Best off being at least tested for warp at least, IMO

He also pressure tested it and that gives peace of mind

Don't get a cheapo head set kit. I did that the first time and that's why there was a second 18 months later. GM has to be 1st port of call but as an alternative Jason at AllGermanParts will sort you out
