Anyone refurbed there own wheels using the stuff you buy from halfrauds,and what results have they had?

did a set for a pug 309 many years back for a mate, was a good enough job, but for a nice shiny mig, best getting the £150 fee out the bank and leaving them at a propper refurb centre. by the time you have done all the masking off, and rubbing, repairs, and painting etc, it could still not look 100% and the shade of colour might not be that great either.
you will find a lot of cosmetic bump doctors will dable in wheels, they might do the odd one or two colour matched for a small fee. think was £50 a wheel trade here, but as i said, propper alloy refurb companies will work for £150 cash if asked nicely and the wheels are only scuffed a small ammount.

Think i can get em done round this neck of the woods for around £40 a rim,but the wheels are not really in bad condition just a coupl of scabs appearing,mainly on the back,but me being me,i want them mint,so thought of doing em myself for around £20 for the paint.

I had a set of Senator wheels done at a so-called professional wheel refurbishers. They only did the out side, and used a sharp grit of some kind that resulted in the bit they ''refurb'd" resembling something you might have had shot blasted for some industrial application. And they only used the one colour.
I did the last set myself using ordinary rattle cans & a top laquer. Far superior job!

depends how "pro" the "pro" are i guess. can do by hand not a bad job but all the effort and time etc..  each to their own. getting the paint on and lacquer and leveler is not hard, but getting them all sanded down etc and doing the insides etc, depends how far you want to go i guess

If there's a branch of "The Wheel Specialist" near you get a quote.They can do any colour/finish/easy clean/ and they do the whole wheel, I've worked in the car finish game and I couldn't get to any where near their standard, in short they do a superb refurb. But it cost me 250.00 for 18"sportstars,must admit I had my doubts,but they went when I saw the results.

Ive done a few sets and tbh, aslong as you take your time and have some attention to detail, you can produce quite a nice job! 

When i cant be bothered puttin in all the work i chuck them to a mate and have them refurned and powdercoated for around £160/set lol

I was thinking of using normal bodyfiller to fill any scabs and imperfections,but was just a bit concerned when it comes to changing the tyres if you have to fill round the rim,as obviously the tyre machine would f**k it up.
