« on: 20 December 2021, 10:49:57 »

My other halfs Volvo S40  2.0 diesel 57 reg with turbo now and again goes into limp mode. She switches ignition off  and restarts and its ok Would an engine cleaner such as Wynns help this problem.
Happy Christmas to all. :y

any fault codes? When my R Class did this, it was the electric turbo actuator that was at fault, needless to say that MB would only supply a new actuator complete with a new turbo. I had the actuator refurb'd .... which kinda worked for a while.

Without codes, the diagnosis could be pretty much anything...

If it is the actuator, they are available new for around £80. But there's a few things it could also be.

Had the same in the Range Rover when towing the caravan back from Devon earlier in the year + grey smoke from the exhausts first thought was the turbos , pulled into services waited for 15 minutes restarted perfectly and got home with no further issues ,took it to my independent who found a split turbo boost hose only cost £18.00 to fix.

Have you tried a cleaner such as Ajax applied with a brillo pad?
