Hi all,
not too long ago missus and me went to buy a kitchen furniture, table and chairs that fit to each others. In the shop we had a long discussion about furniture colour, more accurately the subject was the colour of valance. Finally she persuaded me to buy THAT one what she liked. Today I saw all the valance covered by some thin blanket :o :o :o the explanation is "to avoid to be worn" . What is the point of choosing any valance ... :D :D :D When I asked, my dear released a wonderful smile, whipped away without any more comment. ::) ::) ::)

I used to have an uncle and aunt who had a room with plastic runners on the carpets and coverings on all of the furniture to prevent wear and tear on any of it, plus the room was never actually used. ??? Ah well, the wonders of the female mind

Proper Furniture has PATINA from 100's of years of use and abuse. If you feel you have to look after it, it's probably not well made.
I recently started using the antique silver cutlery for everyday use along with the best china now used every mealtime, instead of being at the back of the sideboard. Somehow the food tastes better.

Because a chair back is the back of a chair, an antimacassa covers the back of a chair.
