Newbie here. I'm gonna be after lots of advice from you lot about buying a Omega. I'm a Carlton man you see more to the point the 6 Cly. variety. I currently have a 2.6 Dip auto, GSi 3000 manual and I'm also very privileged to own my dream a Lotus Carlton. You can normally find me mu-chin around Total Carlton or The Autobahn stormers. At the mo I have a really wonky ankle which means I can't drive the manuals (sniff sniff) and I really like my creature comforts especially air con. Which leads me to a little problem with my only car I can drive the 2.6 The a/c comp. has lunched it. To replace will probably cost as much as the car is worth. SO I'm gonna look for a Omega with working a/c etc for around the 700 quid mark. Not knowing anything about these beasties can you give me pointers and known problems I should look out for?
Speak to you all soon

Hello Doz, and a warm welcome to this site! :y
I am very much a 'Carlton lady' having had the pleasure of driving various versions, including the big sister 'Senator', over the years and about 500 - 600K miles. Great cars to maintain as well, with most jobs tackled by me, along with a main Vx dealer in Bristol over the decades.
I am very envious of your Lotus Carlton; a great car that you are rightly proud of. :y :y ;)

Hi doz, welcome to the OOF.
I had a couple of Carltons myself and am now an Omega convert, they really are a worthy successor. the carlton was really the Omega A after all.
My omega is my Carltons all over again, but with all the toys and the engine I always wanted. I hope you find a good Omega, you may find it Carlton-esque enough to make the leap yourself.
