Towbar Vx wiring loom
« on: 27 October 2007, 17:19:53 »

Does anyone know how this plug and play Vauxhall loom connects up tp the car??
I have a mass of wiring and i can only see where about 2 connections go :(
Also is there a factory position to use to bring in the wiring loom??
Any advice/pictures would be a god send.
TIA.

If you remove the trim at the back (next to bumper) you'll see a square-ish plug with 9 wires to it and a blue/black (rear fogs) wire looping back on itself. This has all the wires you'll need to wire up your towbar. The 'proper' Vx loom is I believe very expensive. If you use the wires to the plug the only thing you need to be aware of is that the real loom is designed to be wired via a trailer brake light check 'relay' which lives either above the driver's feet or behind the glove box depending on whether pre or post face lift. As far as to where to bring the loom in, mine originally was pushed through one of the grommets in the boot floor, however I brought mine in behind the rear trim next to where the wiring goes out for the number plate lamp.

What's the plug like on your new towbar loom? I noticed that the loom in the back of my wife's Astra G is a similar set up but the plugs are round rather than square. You sure you've been sold the correct loom - perhaps it's for the later face lift cars  :-/ Just guessing  :-/
There is a wire to each light, the wires of the towbar loom corresponds with the car's loom. You'd think I'd have the colours of cable written down somewhere against what they do ... but I've just looked & I don't. :-[

The kit was removed from a mini-facelift up north and shipped down to me. Mine also is a mini-facelift.
The GM loom has about 6 conections at least and is only single electrics.
Could someone with TIS access have a look to see if there are any pics showing where the plugs on the car are all hidden please??

I've seen a GM trailer loom where it plugged on to the car's tail lights in place of the original loom, that plug then plugs into another socket on the trailer loom.
Your 6 plug/sockets could be that, 1 to & from each tail light, and another to & from the fog & reverse lights on the boot. Purely guessing. Without looking at what you've got it's difficult to know. Any photos? Can't you ask for advise from where you got it?
