Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Cooling fans
« on: 21 February 2010, 16:01:03 »
There are two fans at the front of the engine and one at the back. Is the back one for the condenser? And when does it kick in?

On the facelift, are the climate control panels interchangeable? I changed mine over so should it function normally?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / self levelling action on xenons
« on: 17 December 2009, 16:04:24 »
How can you tell the self levelling action is working on your xenon lights. My HID adjuster arm had come loose and was resting on the wishbone. It has since been reattached and there are no warnings on the info display. I'm assuming therefore everything is OK, but is there a test you can do to make sure the lights are actually undertaking the self levelling action.

Thanks.

I managed to pop the climate control panel out thanks to Welung. :y

Only problem is the replacement panel I got is for a right hand drive car, mines a LHD - LOL. Only difference I've noticed is that you have to use the passenger side control as the main one. Don't suppose thats a major issue?

I was wondering whether it is possible to swap the fascias over. I took one of the panels apart but I don't think you can remove the wiring quite so easily. is it a good idea to retain the back part of the CC so that it remains LHD operation. Plus is the facisa and back part unique to each other?

thanks again.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Air conditioning question
« on: 02 December 2009, 07:47:31 »
I am suspicious that my Air con has sprung another leak. The temperature has dropped off a bit and it is not so hot anymore, but still warm. I had the CC on low with the recirculation on, the a/c was blowing cool but not cold cold like it used to. Question is does the Omega recalcuate what should be cold over the winter months, i.e due to cooler weather should I expect the a/c not to be too cold? Or should it still be ice cold?

Also with the a/c on Lo and recirculation, I touched the filling point pipe and it didn't seem particulary cold.

It is likely I have another leak?

I'm trying to pop out the climate control panel from the wood effect surround. I've taken the radio out and the screw out of the back. I've also removed two screws at the top of the wood surround including the heated seat switches. The wood surround now levers forward with the climate control panel. I tried to push the control panel out but its not moving. Is the climate control panel held in from the sides or something.

I've seen the guide in the mainatenance section but it doesn't quite tell you how to separate the climate control panel only.

Many thanks!

I am considering replacing my CCRT 2008 unit. Question is will my Bose speakers work with  a new double din unit and secondly is there a website where you can get double din fascias/surrounds and steering wheel control adaptors?

On the xenon lights motor there is a plastic lever which has a ball on the end. This goes into the headlamp. Question is, is it supposed to lock into the back of the plastic part within the light?

Other question is how exactly does the levelling work? does the plastic arm pull and push the light mechanism or does it fall back due to gravity as the plastic motor arm retracts?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Converging low beams
« on: 16 August 2009, 20:29:53 »
Are low HID beams supposed to converge ever so slightly or should they be dead straight ahead. Reason for asking is that there appears to be no way to adjust them vertically (side to side).

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / new xenons - low dipped beam
« on: 14 August 2009, 18:03:20 »
I got around to fitting new headlamps on my mig today. When fitted I noticed that the beam was very low maybe ending about 5 to 6 feet in front of me.

I drove around the compund and thought it might come up a bit but to no avail. I thought maybe I have settled the plastic arm with the small ball on the end properly? how exactly does that work, does it move in and out to level the beam?

I sitting here fiddling around with the light and wondered maybe the back of the xenon bulb should be slightly off centre when you fix the motor assembly in?

There are no codes or anything saying it isn't working so thought maybe it's a tip needed more than anything else.

Any responses very gratefully received.

Can I just say if it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't have dared to dissassemble the lights, especially sat in a foreign country. So inspiration to all those who know nothing about cars, like myself.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Hella vs DEPO lights - findings
« on: 15 August 2009, 16:33:49 »
Finished installing the DEPO headlights and I would say if can afford Hella, stick with Hella.

Whilst DEPO do appear to be made of inferior plastic and rubber to Hella, here are some other points.

1. There is no hole to receive the plastic strip which fits under the light.

2. You may find you have to adapt the bulb holder for the xenon lamp. I had to adjust the metal so that the bulb would sit flush.

3. The anti dazzle lever is actually inside where the xenon bulb goes. So if you are travelling abroad you will have to cover off the xenon bulb first.

4. The xenon bulb plastic cover may not sit properly, I had to file the inside of the housing, its close but not quite flush.

5. One of the ballast will not sit flush under the light housing. DEPO have skimped on plastic extrusions.

6. I had to make my own incisions into the plastic casing to receive the ballast.

7. When fitting the lights you might find that the holes do not align properly. You may have to push and pull a bit to get a fit.

Lastly I didn't have too much difficulty getting the hidden bolt in and out. I used a screwdriver rather than the ratchet as shown in the guide. That makes it easier guiding in and out. When putting the hidden screw back in, I wrapped sellotape around the ratchet nut and washer (not the screw) this way the whole thing goes in, and the sellotape will come of.

Hope this is of use.

I got my self a pair of new xenon headlamps, but am wondering how the indicator bulbs fit into the headlamp unit as the bulbs are quite small. Do I need to buy the bulb holder for these? or is there some kind of backing holder?

13
On top of the headlights (facelift xenons), there appear to be two adjustable points suitable for an allen key. Anyone know what these are for and what exactly is being adjusted?

14
Just wondering as I haven't had a chance to look yet.

But how exactly do you fix on ballast units to the underside of the xenon lamps.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / DEPO headlamps xenon version
« on: 23 July 2009, 15:09:14 »
New DEPO headlights have just arrrived, but how do you adjust them to ensure you are set up LHD or RHD. There is a metal lever on the back but I am afraid to move it for fear of breaking it.
Thanks.
