Suitable relpacement unit for the CCRT 2008
« on: 20 October 2009, 17:07:31 »

I am considering replacing my CCRT 2008 unit. Question is will my Bose speakers work with  a new double din unit and secondly is there a website where you can get double din fascias/surrounds and steering wheel control adaptors?

The BOSE amps and speakers will not work with an aftermarket head unit, and I`m not sure if the other BOSE compatable head units will work with the CCRT2008 display.

What is your reason for wanting to change it?

If its because of the sound, Then rip it all out, amps and speakers as well, and I can certainly assist with fascia adaptors and steering interfaces

If its because of a faulty unit, then look for another CCRT2008

Thanks Dave. Reason for wishing to replace it is due to it being defective, i.e cd player not working, busted flaps etc. Very difficult to source a replacement though and thought the modern ones that have bluetooth etc might be a better option.

Just out of interest (Dave), how comes there are no adaptors or anything (similar to the auto leads harness adaptors) to make after market work with bose??

I mean, they can make the MID's and Steering controls work
???:)

Because no-one has been arsed to make one, however if you possess even a passing knowledge of basic electronics then you can make it work.

Shame you are so far away - I have one here, but postage would be a killer.

For CD, any CDC3 unit will work, just use your original control board.

The BOSE system on the Omega`s is simply too old and there are too few of them to warrant the high costs of research and development into an interface for them.

The MID and steering control interface / leads only exist because they are fairly universal across the Vauxhall model range.

Autoleads do BOSE adaptors for Porsche and Audi (Not Vauxhall), but being BOSE, they have come up with a different set of voltages and levels for each car. BOSE Honda is the worst having a mix of different impedance speakers fitted!!
