......on the M1. Driving towards Sheffield, the overhead gantries showing a compulsory 60 with accompanying 'High winds' sign. Wind? It was as calm as a very calm thing. Getting towards the slip road for Meadowhell, signs drop to 40mph, including on the slip road. No one slows down much, I'm scared to cause I've got a good few behind me on the slip road.
Anyhow, I go through at about 55...flash...looks in my rear mirror......flash....flash......flash....flash
The control room operator must have been counting up...£100....£200...£300 ;D
Fick >:(

Suspect you won’t get anything. I’ve been flashed on M25 doing 70 through a 40 Zone.
-
I propose we go back to the 'good old days'
If the rozzers can catch you then 'it's a fair cop'........if they can't, then chalk one up to the naughty speeders. :)
Far too sneaky and underhand these days. :-\

.....having said that you're not going to outrun much in a derv Astra. :D

If I get the NIP, I'll protest and tell them that, by your own admission, you were doing 70 and didn't get one. :)

Seems to me you're a serial speeder ::) You might find a roll of wallpaper cheaper to decorate with than all these expensive photos you keep buying :D ;D ;D
-
55 indicated on speedo? If so you maybe slightly lucky.
If you do get a NIP, you will probably be offered a speed awareness course (Read: How not to get caught again!). As I am 'told' that the limit for speed awareness is 10% + 9 MPH. Whilst this would make 53, most modern speedo's appear to be +3MPH in the first place. It's a close one.

That,s assuming he hasn,t had one already. :D

This tactic may be an option as long as your confident your never going to ditch her for a younger model. Then , you will be behind bars (again ;D) as Chris Huhne found out. ;D

Smart motorways are fickin shite! >:(
The other day I was on the M4 eastbound by Newport heading towards the Brynglas tunnels.
It was early afternoon and the traffic was light. Nevertheless the overhead gantries took us down to 40 mph in the approach to the tunnels for no apparent reason. ::) And then the gantry just before we entered the tunnel showed NSL and was at NSL for the rest of the 'Smart' motorway. ???
Tossers! ::)

Most smart motorways have now activated the cameras and operate a zero tolerance policy ::)

Yup and my example above demonstrates what a massive scam/cash cow they are! >:(
Over to you Ron! ;D

I very much doubt it. I know they made a big things about the Derbyshire cameras being turned on all the time (they are the most profitable in the country, apparently), yet I've seen cars going through them at least 20MPH over 70 and no flashes. They also can't do 'zero' tolerance as each car differs and the speedo's aren't reliable enough (they are now, but it still exists). Most forces work to 10% +2MPH, some are 10% +1MPH before they would even consider a prosecution.
-
They only flash in low light conditions... ::)

Not from what I've seen. If they had a 0 tolerance and/or didn't flash - I wouldn't have a license by now. Maybe that would be a good thing? :)

If nothing lands today I'll feel quite confident that it never will. I could be wrong, of course, and I know that they have 14 days, but I've had one before and wifey has had one, both arrived within three days.

No, Nothing In Post. Yet. ::)
All in due course...

An example should be made to deter other reckless risk takers. Three months sharing a cell with big Winston would be appropriate. :)

Nothing today either.

He ain't that big ::)

M1 is notorious for actually having 'film in their cameras'*. If you don't get a NIP you'll have been very lucky.
Suck it up buttercup. Bend over and take the points from the rozzers.
*I know it is all digital these days...

Just a bit of info... Speedometer reading on modern cars are no longer +/- but only over read.
“Tolerances” are only a guidline from the ACPO and not set in stone - if any force chose to ignore them it is completely down to them. Mrs LD got a NIP for 43 in a 40 - Speed awareness course was offered and accepted.

Still no NIP, I'm safe. :)

Still no NIP, I'm safe. :)
You first posted about it on March 18th - was that the date of the 'offence'?
If it was 18th, then you aren't safe. March 18th would be day zero. Day 14 would therefore be Mon 2nd April. However, Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April inclusive are UK bank holidays, so no post. You are probably safe providing it hasn't landed by Thursday 29th, but there is a risk that it'll land on Sat 31st March if you get a Saturday post, so belt and braces approach is to book a long weekend away and not return home until late on Tuesday 3rd April.

True, but they don't take 14 days, I'm safe. Wanna bet? ;D

Friday. It will arrive on Friday.

I drove down the M1 (a little - M6 to Northampton) on Saturday and noticed the gantry-side cameras flashing away, even without lowered limits visible.. interestingly, those are the "single large wide box" gantry-side cameras; the "two small box" (HADECS3) gantry-side cameras we have further south (Northampton to M25) don't seem to flash without lowered limits being visible.

Providing Stemo books the long weekend holiday not returning till late Tuesday that's still a get out of jail free card.
Case law states that NIP service by post is a matter of fact. The notice is served the moment it lands on the doormat. Therefore, if it lands on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday it's within the 14 day time limit.
However, if Stemo isn't actually in when it lands on the doormat, and doesn't return to find it till (say) late Tuesday, and the posting date is on or after this Wednesday then he can honestly say he doesn't know when it arrived, and the Interpretations act comes to the rescue. In the absence of any other compelling evidence, it's a rebuttal presumption that first class post is delivered on the second working day after postage. This weekend is Easter, so none of (Good) Friday, Saturday, Sunday or (Easter) Monday are "working days". Hence a NIP posted first class this Wednesday is not presumed delivered until Tuesday next week - which is out of time.
If Stemo stays at home, and the NIP somehow does arrive between Friday and Monday (Saturday being probably the most likely) then it would be unwise to claim it had been served out of time if he knows damn well it arrived in time. Purjury could see you banged up.
And only 6/4? I won £120+ on last years Eurovision (should've been £300+ but I cocked up my each ways and to place). I'll stick to my dead certs thanks :)
-
As Friday and Monday are bank holidays I can't see it arriving on either of those days-if it arrives at all.

I think I might have had my picture taken this morning. :(

Hope not :( It's not fair. When I venture on to the M62, a lot of the journey is 50mph through 'upgrading'. I should be able to balance the journey out by doing 90 for the other bits.
-
Well we can keep this thread going for another 14 days to see if I get a NIP or not.... ::)

A lot of cameras on the smart motorways are active 24/7 now and not just when the lowered limits are shown, M25 was the first one IIRC

No NIP. Final offer.....5/1.

Reckon you've got away with it ,I got snapped three times in Leeds a few years back never heard a thing !
