Omega General Help / Re: Steering dust covers MOT advisories.
« on: 09 May 2024, 17:57:48 »
You CAN change dust covers on track rod ends BUT it requires removing the nut/breaking the taper free .
at which point you may as well replace the TRE especially if your also removing the steering linkage for boots ,or replacement
then the tracking will need doing .
inspect the boots , if they are not split (allowing the ingress of water ,an MOT FAIL ) the leave them be
If there is any play in joints ,replace the track rods ,steering links etc ,anything on it's way out ,in one go ,then get tracking done

General Car Chat / Re: Project anyone?
« on: 09 May 2024, 12:29:20 »Car park dings wouldn't be a problem.Whilst it's probably better fuel economy wise than an Omega , I doubt I it could take the country lane corners well at 50 mph ,I'd probably end up ploughing fields and I'm NOT a farmer , so ......"that's a NO from me and I'm out "

« on: 08 May 2024, 12:26:54 »No point seeking advice / diagnosis on a car forum.Indeed
Make an appointment with your Doctor and ask for tests.
sooner the better , treatments are available for some memory loss
took 9 months, and countless calls to get my mum assessed (Alzheimer's disease & vascular dementia)
Alzheimer's disease & dementia is horrible ,not gust for the sufferer

General Car Chat / Re: Car Insurance - Recommendations?
« on: 01 May 2024, 20:49:18 »Who/where/what insurance providers do people use?Unfortunately that probably means your previous NCB (no claims bonus) may NOT be accepted by UK insurers
I haven't needed to buy insurance in the UK for a few years so completely out of touch with which ones are good / expensive / useless etc.
Most only allow 1 or 2 years gap

Omega was £415 to tax so that's gone up £20
Still .... at least the council will have that cash to fix all the bloody pot holes
car insurance renewal £100 too much (compared to other sites) so I'll have to waste my time arguing them down again

« on: 27 April 2024, 12:19:20 »There was a time that the fastest thing on 4 wheels you could buy was a Transit van. Now - the front of every queue round here is some twonk driving one at 45 in a NSL limit.Maybe someone should invent a smart phone app
control your delivery vans speed while texting ,calling etc
