ABS - TC & SPEEDO
« on: 03 January 2020, 09:56:59 »

Saw an earlier post on this, have the same problem intermittent on and off, loss speedo, AB/TC and spanner light comes on, sometimes comes back on again, start up and sometimes fine, then other times start up and lights stay on. Having read through the previous threads, possibly ECU but not easy to come by, any ideas where can source sensors if required before considering ABS ECU.

Cheers

s'not the sensors I'm afraid. Its is the ECU.

Pretty certain its the same ECU on all V6's from 1998 onwards, though if from a different engine (and possibly gearbox) will need recoding via Tech2.

To be certain, if you can get it plugged into something that can read the ECU shortly after it next happens, there will be no codes if its the ECU, and the specific sensor code of its a sensor.

But the fact you lose speedo (and I suspect the trip computer goes bonkers) means we already know the answer :(

Just turned the car ignition on and lights staying on this time, there is one on ebay, but not sure if correct one, have tried calling but on ansaphone, will try later; VX would not give me the part number and £708 just for the ECU and wait for it £1,108 for the pump

The other option would be to contact BBA Reman to send the unit off for refurb, they will be my next point of call

Well checked with the autel maxscan and no codes or pending codes, so assume it is the ECU

Not sure the Autel generic OBDII reader can read from the ABS ECU...

https://www.partshark.co.uk/find-used-car-parts-by-registration-number/results/SIL9529/cfdc7ae561ef05d6bfecc63c9de456276c91e0fa/parts/#parts

BBA Reman would be my best advise Mike as they will refurbish your existing so you know it will be a straight fit back on and work..they also give a warranty unlike a 2nd hand part ang given the total ball ache it is to get it off and back on would be my choice.

I have used them in the past and very quick turnaround albeit your into around £150 by now I expect.

As its so fiddly to get the old part out I would remove the entire pump with ecu fitted and then dismantle out of the engine bay ,although you "might" have fun rebleeding the brakes again but see how the ecu comes out ...expect some swearing and plasters
