Well guy's as above which is all about my wheel wobble coming through the steering wheel at 70-75 mph wihch would last all the way through to 100 mph. With this in mind I decided to replace the disc's, which didn't help so after reading some more on the forum about this i decided to take the plunge and replace the discs and both hub bearings.

So on Wednesday morning thats what I did, I replaced the hub bearings, which I am glad I did as when I got the nearside off the bearings were rattling around the hub if you shook it plus they were very loose as well. So once I had removed and renewed the hub I replaced the disc as well and the caliper too.

On to the other side, samething here with the bearing but not as bad still worn and loose though. Anyway after replacing the hub bearing, discs and calipers I was set for my journey all the way to Burton to visit my brother for a few days. Anyway once I had joined the M4, the start of my journey, I took the car upto 75mph, great I said I have sorted it out, so I took her upto 85 mph sadley the wheel wobble is still there so I am annoyed now and not to sure where to look now.

So far I have replaced:

Both front hub bearings.
Both front discs.
Both front calipers.
Lower arms replaced ( about a year ago) so may need replacing again.

The front coil springs are ok not broken, had full geomtry done at WIM (as some of you remember my car was one of the ones done) the wheels have benn balanced three times, as far as I am aware the wheels are not buckled. The idler arm looks ok.

Is there anything else I could be missing? All help is appreciated as I am now at a loss of where else to look.

as an experience high speed balance problems are mostly alloys and then tires..

there are some machines that can also measure vertical movement..

but unfortunately my similiar problem get lost after alloy + wheel change..

but before still I think its worth trying an adviced shop on a full balance..

I wonder if you have a problem with with either a rim or a ytre.

I would be tempted to try putting the rear wheels on the front and vice versa and go through the process of elimination.  If the vibration swaps ends then its a wheel or trye problem.

Then swap the wheels one at a time  with the spare, or swap front and back on one side only till you find where the vibration is.

Could be a split or an egg developing in a side wall on a tyre, if on the inside you may not see it.  Could be a slightly misshaped alloy  (have you changed the standard alloys)  Time consuming I know, but as it seems speed related then worth checking out.

That was one of the first point of calls as I thought thats where it could have been, The tyres have been checked for out of shape and the alloys are the same as when I got the car. I haven't tried swaping the wheels around yet, as I don't use the car that often, only weekends when I need to use it.

I will be making a trip to chesham on Monday so if I can leave early enough I will stop off at wim so he could check it out for me and give some advise as well. One other thing when I replaced the hubs the torque setting stated 235 lb ft but my torque wrenh only goes upto 150 ft lb's, could this be part of the problem with the hub nut not being torqued up properly?

New tyres solved the wheel wobble I had at around 55-70mph.
I had previously had the wheels balanced around 12 months earlier it  was slightly better but thought they had done a crap job.
Took it to a different place for new tyres and of course balancing.
No wobble at any speed now, so I reckon the tyres were at fault, they were ready for replacing anyway.

where the wheels balanced on a cone balancer or a 5 stud balancer? The later sorted my 80 to 90 wobble. Cone balancer just moved it around the speed range but never got rid.

Is the viberation through the steering wheel or the seat ?

No clunks or bangs, no knocking all coming through the steering wheel. Just got back from Burton and tried it again just incase it needed settling down but no still the same its bad between 85 mph and 100 mph then level's out and its sweet as a nut.

As far as I know chris it was done the normal way, which I take it thats on the cone balancer.
Where did you get yours done with the 5 stud balancer chris?

Well went to WIM today and got them to check the car over and they found that the rear offside tyre needed replacing as it was bald on the inside. Now that the wheel has a new tyre and the rest of the wheels have been balanced as well all is good.
