power steering problem
« on: 26 May 2008, 11:52:29 »

hi can anyone suggest where to start ,18 months ago i had a second hand power steering pump put on my car(suited my pocket at the time). all works fine at normal driving speeds ,but unlike before at parking speeds there is no increase in engine speed when you turn the wheel,it has been like this since the car came back from the garage, mechanic unable to sort it out, is this the pump or more likley to be sensor/ electrical problem
thanks in advance

I'll have to check when I go out tomorrow, but I don't remember any of mine increasing RPM when the steering is turned. I think the idle control compensates for the additional load.
