Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Facelift ICE options
« on: 06 August 2006, 10:28:05 »
I was under the impression that the outputs from the head unit to the Bose amp (under the parcel shelf) were at line level, even though they use the speaker wires - so surely it would be possible to join onto the Bose amp inputs and feed that into the sub's amp?

I remember when I asked a question about the amp a few months ago elsewhere, Mark confirmed that the outputs are line level - ie, 0.7V not 2 or 4V that most head units seem to use as pre-out ... so you might need to up the gain on the sub's amp a bit ...

sat nav unit in mine is the NCDC2013 head unit - easy to spot as it has a single CD slot at the top instead of a cassette player ... AFAIK all the facelift sat nav unit model numbers begin with NCDC instead of CDR.

depends on the engine size. AFAIK, 3.0 and 3.2 litre models had sat nav as standard, it was an optional extra on any other engine.

To remove the factory head unit, you need to remove the grub screws then pull out the unit using a set of double-DIN extraction keys. I got mine from Halfrauds, suprisingly enough they were cheaper than fleabay - especially once you'd added on postage ... although by the sounds of it your fuseboard might be the cause of the problem ...

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Radio codes
« on: 23 July 2006, 23:06:06 »
bought one a couple of weeks ago for mine ...  £16 + VAT (£18.80). Took the V5 with me which was good enough. Dealer gave me a hand-written note with the codes a day or so afterwards, the proper car pass arrived in the post about a week later. Turns out that I didn't need the code when removing the head unit after all (Siemens NCDC2013) ...  ::)

works perfectly (as hoped) - mutes stereo, shows "external audio source" on GID, then resumes CD (or internal changer) where it left off ... perfect !

Oddly enough, although I do have the code, I never got asked for it! Not sure, maybe as the display and head units are coded to each other, I guess it recognises that it's connected to the same display unit so assumes that all is well. I did try holding down AS while powering on (which toggles the code on a lot of Vx factory head units) and it did nothing ... ??

iirc, the pinout is on a sticker on the radio...
(pops out to car to grab radio) ... yep so it is!

top of radio is a sticker with model no., etc - and the pinouts (helpfully upside down!)

so here's a close-up of it the right way up!

looks like pin 34 - pink with two red stripes - which also goes to trafficmaster wiring connector which makes sense!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / NCD2013 wiring for car kit
« on: 22 July 2006, 18:36:13 »
I'm finally getting round to transferring the nokia car kit between cars and am now at the point of making power and mute connections. I've identified the power connections (tapping into the trafficmaster adaptor lead), anyone know which wire to connect to implement the radio mute function?

I'll let others answer the bleed sequence, but the fluid reservoir is on top of the master cylinder - back left of the engine bay if at the front of car, facing the engine

Omega General Help / Re: Sun roof
« on: 11 February 2008, 13:55:21 »
the roof on mine was very labourered and you had to hold the button in all the time to get it to close. It'd be worth removing the cover and trying to move the sunroof with a screwdriver in the emergency access. In the end I removed the motor & gearbox assembly - the grease had all dried up probably due to lack of use. Re-lubricated it, reassembled and it was perfect after that ... if anything it was the brass part that sticks through the gearbox and drives the belts of the sunroof mechanism that needed the lubrication more than anything else  :y

slight noise from cold could also be exhaust manifold and/or gasket blowing ...

Omega General Help / Re: Help needed from some nice people!!

regarding the fob, on a car of that age I believe they used infra-red remote so I think there should be some sort of receiver (like a little dome) on the sunroof control for it?

Omega General Help / Re: Facelift Elite & MV6 Differences
« on: 11 February 2008, 13:51:04 »
I had a 2000 facelift elite - that had sat nav as standard. It would appear that was brought in at some point during 2000 as I've not seen it on any 'V' reg facelift models ... rain sensitive wipers probably came in around the time of the 3.2 though.
