Omega General Help / Re: Elite 3.2 "Fly By Wire?" can you tune th
« on: 04 February 2008, 15:43:03 »
also given that it's a 3.2 elite, it will have an auto gearbox as only plod models had a manual gearbox, so there isn't the facility to fit a lightweight flywheel (to my knowledge!!) ... ??

... so a cat back exhaust is probably most of the improvement you can make ...

Omega General Help / Re: heated seat prob,s
« on: 24 October 2007, 22:16:42 »
the rumour I'd heard is that it's possible to put a replacement element underneath the leather - it'd take a bit longer for the heat to transfer through, but would be better than having a cold arse!!!  ;D

a certain amount is but if it's a lot, then the seal that fits on the bottom of the breather (plastic part that the ecotec cover clips onto) might be worth checking. along with making sure that the breather is fitted correctly ...

Omega General Help / Re: head gasket gone ( I think) - £?
« on: 23 October 2007, 00:36:27 »
I think it's only the V6 lumps that have the oil cooler, if so (and HG failure is confirmed with a gas test) then once the gasket is replaced using a genuine part then I don't see why it should then be fine for about the distance you mention - if not more ...

Omega General Help / Re: Oil leak - filler cap neck
« on: 22 October 2007, 15:20:49 »
if you look under the cable that runs near the base of the filler neck, you will see the tab which clips over one of the cam cover bolts that needs to be lifted - you can then turn the filler neck, pull it out, replace the seal and refit  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Aaarrrggghh!! Oil filter disaster on 2.6
« on: 17 October 2007, 20:56:59 »
had this on my second omega, some muppet did the lid up F.T. - so the whole assembly unscrewed when trying to remove the lid. At the time I didn't have a strap wrench to counterhold the casing, so I ended up turning it whilst pulling down on it at the same time. Eventually this unwound the hollow bolt that secures the back of the casing to the block. Removing the lid from the casing then required use of a vice and 2 foot breaker bar - even then it needed a bit of persuasion!

Fortunately after replacing the housing (torque the hollow bolt to 45Nm), refitting the filter and tightening the lid to the correct 15Nm torque, on the next oil change it came off easy peasy  :y
