General Discussion Area / Re: Sales V Interest Rates
« on: 20 June 2008, 10:11:42 »
Governments have always pushed up interest rates in order to combat inflation. So the next move is likely to be up.
But we need to bring interest rates down in order to get the housing market moving again.
Little or no growth added to rising inflation equals stagflation.
Hard times ahead.Especially for those who have just bought a house.

Only used to 10 second quarter mile superbikes. 7.4 second quarters must suck the moisture from your eye balls.

I thought the Elite had the same centre console. Could be wrong though.

Surely the centre consul is the same on both your cars :-/
You can retrofit the variable wipe ;)

General Discussion Area / 3 Little things that should be better
« on: 19 June 2008, 18:54:55 »
Minor point maybe.

3 things really annoy me on my Omega 2.6CD

1. The intemittant speed wiper only has 1 speed (My 3.2 has variable)

2. The carpet in the boot is badly fitted and of very poor quality - not befitting a premium saloon.

3. The centre console looks like an after thought it is not integrated into the rest of car at all. My wife says she thinks its like something you'd buy from halfords.

My house is late victorian 1891 .
The insurance company tells me that buildings insurance is much more than a comparable modern box.
Due to the fact that they dont make them like they used to.
That is because it would cost much more to rebuild.

General Discussion Area / Why so many Newbies
« on: 17 June 2008, 17:46:00 »
Been on the Forum now for a few months and I have noticed that we have about 3400 members.

But I don't see them. In the time I've been on I've probably only spotted a 100 or so different members.

So I've looked down the lists and can find pages and pages of Newbies dating back as far as 2006.

It seems a huge proportion never even make it to the dizzing heights of Junior member.

The Forum seems entertaining and informed. Any reasons why this would be so?

Geography may be a bit out if South Lincs is classed as "North" - depends on how you look at it...

Either way, we all know the north would whooop the south any day.  ;)

I agree with Platty.

Anyway, saying all Northerners are ugly is a bit like saying all Southerners are bed wetters.

I would'nt say this but some people might

Having reaches the dizzy heights of Junior Member I feel I should give something back to the OOF, which has supplied me with friendly chat technical knowhow and last but not least humour.

So I propose this. OOF supplies me with a mint condition 3.2 Elite complete with petrol tax insurance and maintenance for 1 year, and I will drive it around complete with OOF insignia enblazoned on the car, completely free of charge, in order to promote the Forum.

This is a selfless act on my part, but I would be willing to do it.

If an Elite was unavailable I would be willing to do the same task in a mint condition Lotus Carlton.

Can't say fairer than that.
