Introduction
« on: 27 March 2007, 11:07:25 »

Hi Everyone,

I am very new to using forums so please forgive me if I appear to be a bit slow at times.

My History.

Old git who has recently bought a 1998 Omega Elite 3 litre V6 Manual.

Previuosly Had 3 x 2.0 litre Carltons  1976 model (wrecked the gear box)
2 x 1980 models (blew headgaskets on both of these)

Then went over to the Ford Mondeo having 3 of them in a row over the last 10 years but seriously missing the comfort  of the Carltons.

I have wanted an Omega for a long time and finally found the opportunity to buy the Elite for what I feel is a reasonable price £1250 with 128k on the clock. Fairly good nick with just the usual minor rust points on top of rear passenger door and rear wheel arch. I have done 500 miles in the past week generaly cruising on motorways at 75mph. Trip computer reads an average of 31.8 mpg!! (very suprised but seems to be about right versus visits to the pumps) Car is fully loaded with all the Elite kit. Engine runs nice and quiet and smooth.

Bad points:

Cambelt was changed recently and does look new but no receipts available so I will have to get this done for peace of mind.

Exhaust looks a bit tired and does rattle a bit from the front when on bumpy roads so may need sorting.

Tyres have directional rotation and gives a lot of road noise and will need replacing soon.

Climate control lovely around passenger side and rear of car but iceberg on drivers side so will need to look into this as well.

I will post pics when I have given the car a good wash  as I have got her a bit dirty over the last week.

If I do anything to the car that may be of interest or helpful to others I will post the details but looking around the forum it appears that I will be more of a student than a helper.

Thanks for taking the time to read my waffle.

Seee you soon.

Welcome Chunk. :)

A VERY rare thing, a manual elite.

No major issues by the sound of it, just a few bits to sort.

Lovely cars to drive, now you have one, I doubt you will want anything else.
