The Visa looked pretty reasonable from the outside  :o
My mother had one when I was learning to drive - that round pod on the left has switches for indicators, lights and radio. It was a bit much to take in as a learner while simultaneously rowing the 2CV* engine along with a 3ft long gear stick and trying to stay in your seat while the waterbed suspension wallowed all over the place.

After that experience I managed quite happily with a full bike licence for years before I felt any need to get a car licence  ;D

*The 2CV engine was enlarged from 602cc to 652cc for the Visa

Not in the one I drove.   ;D
There was a 4 cylinder option (Super E) of about 1100cc and Wikipedia lists a host of 4 cylinder engines in later cars of increasing capacity culminating in the 1.8 Peugeot diesel.

I do rather like the older Citroens. DS/SM etc. That new one is pretty hideous :-X

Oops - intended to edit / correct my reference to the Peugeot 1.9 diesel - not quote

The older diesel was a 1.4/1.8 iirc.

I do rather like the older Citroens. DS/SM etc. ....

They're getting pretty sought after these days and fetch good money. I like the earliest DS with the single round headlights, some had add-on spot lights to ... before the double headlight with the swivelling spot light.

I reckon I could count on one hand the number of SMs I've seen on the road ie not at shows or museums

It looks like something you'd find in an amusement arcade , too fussy for me .

Same, other than Le Man's / Goodwood revival I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh. Saw a DS Safari not that long ago. Now that was cool  8)

34bhp was frustrating - 104bhp should be enough to cause involuntary bowel movements  ;D

(And yes - I know this is a photo of a soapbox without an engine of any kind.)

Also, I'm keeping my astra till it dies, which will be well after your tata  :P

With regards to Mrs STEMO's car, it's on hold for now, then I'm thinking of an X1.

So a front wheel drive Mini?

Yep, it's looking that way. Getting fed up talking about it now, she only takes it to work five days a week, so 10,000 miles a year, and she'll be happy if her new car 'looks nice'. I tell her that her astra is low mileage, economical, easy to drive and looks nice, but to no avail. She will get her own way, and she knows it.
