Is this ATF ok...
« on: 31 May 2021, 19:37:04 »

Hi guys. Checked my oil level in my omega (has the ar25 box) and it’s low. So I thought I’ll do a change. I usually use the carlube dex3 but can’t get hold of that in time. I can however get this...

https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-and-fluids/gearbox-oil/comma-atf-and-power-steering-fluid-5l-262423.html?istCompanyId=b8708c57-7a02-4cf6-b2c0-dc36b54a327e&istFeedId=367c5610-f937-4c81-8609-f84582324cd6&istItemId=xxxpqq&istBid=t&_$ja=tsid:94971%7Ccid:865695751%7Cagid:43902126655%7Ctid:aud-1122146652209:pla-327721643933%7Ccrid:202397318376%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:10614961453609681672%7Cdvc:m%7Cadp:%7Cmt:%7Cloc:1006959&gclid=Cj0KCQjwktKFBhCkARIsAJeDT0hBNql-kcci1Ng5CJ6uL8KZ4C_Dtl2RcZ_GOfovnXprdmpT2t8nGzUaApbCEALw_wcB

Would this be good to use. It says suitable for dex2 and dex3 and is fully synthetic. Your thoughts...

Cheers boys 😘😘😘

If you have friends in a local Bus Garage, or plant hire, ask them for some Shell spirex.

This stuff.  https://www.lubricantsupplies.co.uk/buy-shell-spirax-s2-atf-ax-x-20-litres.html

It's oil, so these two questions need a yes answer:

Does it meet the spec? that will be printed on the label

Is the price acceptable? that seems damned expensive to me.

Don't you work in a garage? ATF is the sort of thing I would expect to have on the shelf.

The only difference you'll notice between a generic EP90 and a fancy whizzbang-extra-special-marketing-budget one is the price.

Thanks for all your help men 👌 checked diff and oil was beautiful and clean and at the right level so just left it 👌 atf changed and running well 😀

Next thing. Passenger exhaust manifold leak 🤦‍♂️ It goes away once warm but I know it’s a pig of a job. I’m wondering if it could be the SAI pipe. Who knows. That’s for another day 👍

Ps do Gates do a cambelt kit for 2.5 v6? Can’t seem to find correct one online. I don’t like these contitech ones.

Aren't all V6 cambelt kits the same apart from one[or is it two?]of the engines having two adjustable tensioners/rollers as opposed to just the one?

If I’m honest mate I’m not sure. I know there’s two different backing plates for tensioner and upper roller but other than that I’m not sure. I just want a Gates kit. Or Dayco 👍

There are three kits. Your engine will be either Conti CT884K1 or CT990K1. The difference is the backplate for the tensioner and upper idler roller. Both these kits contain a lower idler roller with eccentric adjustment. The third type CT990K2 kits have a fixed lower roller, ie without eccentric adjustment. These are mostly original fit on 2.6 & 3.2

The belts are all the same. Regardless of brand, if the backplate in the new kit is not the same as the one on the car then swap over the new tensioner and idler onto the old backplate.

ContiTech CT884K1 for engine numbers <=08300418
ContiTech CT990K1 for engine numbers 08300419 <=> 08578511
ContiTech CT990K2 for engine numbers >= 08578512

Conti CT884K1 = Gates K015453XS
Conti CT990K1 = Gates K025453XS
Conti CT990K2 = Gates K035453XS

A ContiTech kit is as close as you can get to a factory fit and there is no difference in the installation method.
