Always stick the cable in a bucket of water when not in use..😂

So not only do you need to find £200 for another cable, but your battery is still as flat as a witch's tit, and you need to get the bus home.

Really easy to nick.

It's not something that will ever bother me, personally. I'll have hung my keys up by the time there's no diesels about. Wife may have to ask her premises manager to have a charging point installed at school......maybe several. That way we don't have to pay for the electrickery either.  ;D

The old 'tripped on a raised paving stone and had terrible pain and a month off work' scam can be modified nicely to accommodate cables trailing all over the shop.  ;D

They lock into the charger and car, take a shit load of work to remove and always damages the cable unless released with the car unlocked (we tried in the work scrapyard on a few!)

Beaten to it by Mr DTM, I was about to say that all three ev's I've used/seen (e-golf, leaf and i3) lock the cable in while charging, presumably for safety reasons, and even after charging is complete as long as the car stays locked.

Leaving the cables lying around is a bit like Leaving the petrol filler door open and being surprised when someone syphons the tank.

Yeh but i suspect they are being stolen for the copper so the plugs can stay where they are courtesy of a pair of insulated bolt cutters  ;D

If the charging unit has been installed correctly the bang will be short lived!  ;D

At least it saves the thieving barstewards having to tramp across the fields to nick the cable from Network Rail.  :D

I like the bit in the article where the thieves tried to hack the Tesla to tell it to stop charging so the cable would unlock  ;D

People manage to steal the overhead cables on the railways, and they're 25KV which will smart a fair bit more than a belt from the normal domestic mains (240V).

I'm sure some clever bods will find a way do this.

The 'crims' who decide it is a good idea to nick the cables after 10 pints of wifebeater will probably use bolt cutters as suggested by VXL V6
