Yes, Covid is here to stay  :( and we can't remain locked down forever

but , as we now know covid is airborne in breath droplets , and in human waste like sewage water etc (which ends up on door handles, handrails, most surfaces ,even in our rivers)
hands washing ,disinfecting parcels and shopping ,social distancing and wearing masks in confined spaces is still good practice
and maybe may save your life   :)

The numbers still don't support the continuous scaremongering...

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

In the UK, population 68 million and change... 4.25 million cases, so significantly below 10%, and 127,000 deaths.

Those numbers are, by and large reflected across the globe.

The case levels are below seasonal cold/flu rates and the number of deaths are statistically irrelevant given the case numbers.

That's not to wish it on anyone, especially a severe case, but the numbers don't lie.

Incidentally, looking at the levels of testing, someone is making serious bank  :-X

Actually, all that cleaning and disinfecting may just kill you if you lose your natural immunity to common lurgies.

Masks might be effective if you changed them everytime you entered a confined space, otherwise all you do is spread everything that has collected on the outside each time you breathe out. And if you don't think that happens but rather the mask absorbs everything, then eventually it becomes saturated and you will be inhaling everything anyway. And in this weather where everyone is hot and sweaty, it takes far less time to saturate them.

I'll leave you with that image whilst you enjoy your dettol sandwiches ;)

You've just explained how a mask helps to protect other people from you. Which is why they need to be worn by as many people as possible for them to have any effect.

That's just like vaccinations: one person having it is a waste of resources, but once you've vaccinated the majority of a group it gets a lot more effective.

No issues with being vaccinated, having had both ;)

The thing with the masks is that once they become saturated, you will inhaling everything that they have collected inside or out in a more concentrated form than if you weren't wearing one.

That's the explanation for physical distancing/limiting the amount of time you spend near other people.

These are the basic, cheap, simple to manage procedures that are the basis of any risk reduction program.

At 50p a mask and, from the disposable ones I have encounter thus far, an 80% failure rate when you put them on.

Cloth ones are more durable, but are about as effective a filter as a night club trainers policy. Which renders them all but useless.

Buy shares in Regeneron.

Remember the last president taking a cocktail of antibody drugs andmore than one person thought he was mad. Well the NHS are trialling them and likely to introduce them later this summer.

Case numbers are based the tests done ,but we know many people DON'T get tested  or are asymptomatic and blissfully unaware of the germs they are spreading  ::)

Death figures are completely inaccurate anyway from the start ,due to being based on anyone   who dies within 28 days of a positive test ,excess morbidity is a more realistic snapshot . you still don't seem to grasp that concept  ::)

Treatment of Chinese Virus has improved over time ,it's easier to keep someone alive for 29 days
However , long covid (@20%) mean people can die weeks or months later ,as a direct result of an infection .

As Nick kindly points out , wearing masks or any face covering was and is to protect other people from the wearers germs  ::)
washable masks are a thing  ;) if you're worried about the environment  ;)

making excuses about reasons NOT to wear a mask ,or moaning about lockdowns and not being able to do this or that isn't helping the situation  ::)

IF everyone embraced simple rules like social distancing, wearing masks in confined spaces ,and washing hands ,general disinfection etc then we(the human population)  wouldn't be in the mess we are in  ::)

adopting a selfish ,"why should I " approach has cost unimaginable loss

buy cheap ,buy twice  :P
invest in several washable masks ,as you would socks or underpants ,and wash them and reuse  :)

I've finished eating my Dettol* sandwiches thanks  ;D

*other brands or non branded disinfectant solution is available

I purchased bulk benzalkonium chloride ,enough to make 500 liters of sanitizer before the first lockdown  :)
I've also been wearing a mask in shops etc before the first lockdown and using hand sanitizer

Exactly, the muddied death rates look worse than they are, which only serves to make them even less statistically relevent.

As for testing, approximately 45 tests for every case.

And l don't know about you, but I was raised to cover my mouth when coughing or sneezing, not to mention washing my hands as appropriate ie after doing or before and after preparing food.

My shopping habits are unchanged from 2019. I hate doing it, and spend as little time as possible doing it. That's about my socialising limit...

If i was worried about the environment, then I wouldn't own a car. That said I have fabric masks which are washed and reused and are therefore far more economical than disposable ones, and have no issue wearing one where I am obliged to.

But where alot of people don't bother, or only cover their mouth, then there's no point, because they either don't understand or don't care. And as I said before, those that didn't care before won't care tomorrow.

My views on lockdowns are unchanged from last March.
