Voila !

You will note that the connectors are totally different physically but the wiring is the same so all the wires are there.

Not quite!
As well as the wiring plugs being different, there are some other differences:
The wiring to the display (which has to be replaced, as ccrt700 has it has its own dedicated display) is different. There are only 2 wires, which are in place, but should really be shielded. I have tried it on the bench, and it seems to be OK on existing wires.
The wiring to the CD player (which has to be replaced, as the CCR600/CCR800 CDC2 changer is different to the identical looking ccrt700 CDC2 changer) is different. At least 2 wires are missing. I have further work to do in this area to find out what needs doing. Hopefully, if the Bose loom came from same donor as ccrt700, then the wiring should be in place from kick panel to cdc2.
The loom to the courtesy light (which has to be replaced with the ccrt700 specific one) is missing. Most of the right signals should be nearby, though the mic will need to be run.
Assuming your car is prewired for phone, the coax is missing from ccrt700 to kick panel is missing.
There does not appear to be an easy way to get a speed signal to the head unit.
Assuming you have fitting bose amp, speakers (all - the door ones are different to std), and loom, you may be better off fitting ccr800 which is plug and play to ccr600 once you've fitted bose loom.
-
That's what I meant ::)
but I knew you'd be along in a minute to give the technical details !
Speed wires are in passenger kick panel, look in CARIN thread for colours. :y

Speed wire on back of radio on ccr600. Trouble is, ccrt700 needs it delivered via CAN...
-
ahh so it wont work with the MID then?
i did try wiring it in on tuesday but had no luck couldnt get the display to work as i didnt know which wires were the display!!! and the disc change i also couldnt get to work!
-
You need a GID :
GID for CCRT support - Fitted to all the cars with CCRT radio sets, supports all the functions of the MID in a half height dot matrix display with some dedicated symbols to allow text etc from the phone function to be displayed, only fitted to mini facelift onwards and is coded to the radio unit via tech 2. Has a single grey connector.
Where did you get the CCRT700 from ?
-
from the scrappy but he is a miserable muppet and i dont really wanna go back there
the bose amp was missing from the car so i assumed it didnt have one and the display in the car looked like my mid!
-
Looks can be deceptive.
If you want the CCRT then bite the bullet and go back, if you don't it's bugger all use to you.
I highly reccommend the phone, it works from the steering wheel controls and the sound is excellent at 90 leptons :y

This is what I think you'll need, based on my testing:
CCRT700 - tech'2 for right config (Bose or Non Bose)
CCRT700 Display (not same as GID, MID, CID or TID)
CDC2 for CCRT700 (different to CDC2 for CCR600/800)
Amp and speakers for Bose (speakers are different to std), and shelf.
If car prewired for phone, connection from CCRT700 to drivers kick panel. If not prewired, and cellular aerial.
If Bose - a Bose drivers kick panel to amp loom FOR CCRT700. If non Bose - a non Bose drivers kick panel to CDC2 loom FOR CCRT700
Courtesy light FOR CCRT700
Even with all this, you'll still have to frig the wiring from radio to display, and radio to drivers kick panel.
Even after you've done that, I haven't worked out how to get a CAN based speed signal to CCRT700 - you older CCR600 had a pulse based signal.
-
hmmm ill keep this as an ongoing project then i need a ccrt700 display then and a bose amp and speaker kit ill search fleabay and that then where does the bose amp live?????????
-
In the boot in front of the spare wheelish
-
found an amp loom courtesy light and full bose speakers for £100 just need a ccrt700 display!!!!!

I thought the display provided the speed signal over the CAN interface between the display and CCRT.

Thanks, I'll try and look in to that.
Now if I had the schematics from a 1999 car, that would be a huge help (currently kludging together from 1998 (Haynes) and 2002 (TIS), neither cover CCRT700)

is the ccrt700 display coded???? or is this a myth i need one but i dont have part number for one!!!

Astra-G, 2002.....CCRT700 was still being used and the display, although a different shape, is a similar animal.

You're forgetting my loom has nothing, so I have to add....
-
hmmm i am having great difficulty locating a display! does anyone have a part number????
i have now recieved a;ll this kit
6 X BOSE Speakers
2 X Bose Sub Woofers
2 X Bose Amplifiers i only need one or do i??????????
CCRT 700 & Code
Courtesy Light
CDC 2 CCRT700 Cd Changer
Complete CCRT 700 wiring loom door speakers the lot!
has cost me £100 so far
i take all i need is a display unit now??
-
I'm not forgetting, I meant I think you should be looking in the passenger footwell for these wires based on TIS.
The green and white seem to be common to the radio, the GID and the CD changer.
Which is what leads me to believe these are the Ebus CAN wires

Dude, reference this :
http://www.ccpip.org/800/service/Connctn.html
and tell me on your recently aquired loom, what colour the wires on CCRT700 connector C pins 7,8,10 & 11 are?
-
ok m8 i will have a look in abit as im at work there are those color connectors on there somewhere and i thought they were for the phone as they went into a 3 core black cable
-
There are three large connectors that go into the back of the CCRT700, the top one is the 'C' connector, it is this one I want to know the colour of the wires as detailled above.
Cheers

From memory, both pairs are blue and yellow, and go to DRIVERS kick panel towards the CD player...
-
which would make some sort of sense as the GID the radio and the CD all have the ECcan.
I'll check for blue and yellow

Right, confirmed. Blue and yellow pairs, both go to kick panle drivers side. Both look like they go off to CD player, but can't confirm as the CD Changer loom I have on dining room table is for CCR600/800, not CCRT700. One set of blue/yellow on the old ccr600 loom does go to cd changer.

Tell you what, its so close now I think (well close enough to at least try fitting in to my MV6.
Assuming you have CCRT700 Bose loom, I reckon its a bit of friggin around getting the larger HU connector sorted, a couple of wires plus a coax to drivers kick panel, and then sorting out the speed signal.
-
yeah the boy do u know what screen i need????????????????
i am going to wait till i have everything and once i can get the ccrt700 to work on a test rig i will install it and produce a how to guide
i just need to source a screen but dont know what one i need!

You need the CCRT700 display. This display was only ever fitted to cars with CCRT700 (so 1999 Omegas - not sure about other models, Veccy-B likely to be similar)

-
The control interface to the CD changer is CAN....I know this because when we disected one there was a CAN interface chip....
-
Yup, as M_DTM says, CDC2 fitted to CCRT700 is CAN, unlike the CDC2 fitted to ccr600/800, and hence is wired differently.
-
went to the scrappie he wont let me have the display he wants me to have the whole lot dials etc etc
and the price quoted was £200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
