How to save £8 a month.
« on: 26 January 2021, 14:40:24 »

I have given Amazon Prime the boot.

Slow and sometimes no delivery. Not good enough,

That's £96 a year I'll save.......that is one whole Omega. :)

About right.

I pay £50 and some pence (can't remember exactly how many) each month. Twice over. :'(

For £7.99 I get next day delivery, which always arrives, and access to amazon prime video, which has some good films, series and football. Plus, I'm not a tight bastard.  :)

Having said that, if there was an alternative, I would consider using it. Amazon is taking over the world, and some people are making a stand. But not me, I find the choice and ease of delivery suits me fine.

+1 Agreed! :y :y

I find Amazon Prime first class, with one delivery of many I have placed coming within 14 hours of being ordered (on a Sunday!).  The films and especially music are good too! 8) 8) ;)

So did I and was quite happy with it. But not for a while now.

I contacted Amazon who say they don't guarantee next day delivery, even with prime.

We have a large distribution centre about 20 miles away, in Sheffield, so maybe that has something to do with it.

We live in the back of beyond and the postman rides a pig rather than drive a van. ;D

It's a shame because I was genuinely happy with the service.

I believe Mr Bitz has a tidy Omega. Perhaps he could be tempted to part with it for £960. :)

Possibly.  :-\

I made my first ever purchase from amazon a few days ago. I had managed to avoid it up to now, but someone gave me a voucher for Christmas.

It is a nice example of the marque, Lizzie. I feel I would be taking advantage of an attractive young lady if I only offered £10,000.

I suppose my problem is that I'm too much of a gentleman. ::) ::) ::)

what else apart from ....
xenon headlights
sunroof (which not many people ever use )
and a more basic radio ,which lets face it, all the Omega radio-grams  are outdated now
do higher spec models have that is important  :-\

I picked that example based on mot history
unless you're lucky ,most £1000 or less omegas are rusty dogs

Whatever the list of differences, the Elite is a much nicer car to drive than a CD spec version. Plus, the 3.2 is considerably more impressive than the 2.6. ;)

Doubtful. As Ive mentioned before - I plan on (hopefully) buying another car this year. Given that swmbo already moans about me having two cars, she will not be at all happy about three.
I love my old Omega and dont want to part with it, so I will put it up for sale for £1000. If it doesnt sell, it wont be my fault.  ::)

The little red F****h tractor is a necessary evil for commuting. As long as it keeps running, it will be staying.  :y

The 2.6 isn't that bad, but you only need to back it off the drive to know that it's no 3.2.

Someone might be able to come and drive mine away tomorrow. I dont think I will last until then tbh.
Swmbo got the Joe Wicks phone app for a Christmas present and has roped me into doing the exercises with her.
I sit here breathless, sweaty and knackered. Also now walking 1.5 to 2 miles a day across the fields.
I need to get back to sitting on my arse at work for 99 hours a week, like I was a couple of years ago. It was much less tiring. ;D

Now time for steak & chips, stewed rhubarb & custard, plus beer. Which will render the exercise a waste of fickin time.  ;D

It's doing you good. Every day, when walking the dog, I find a hill. The steepest hill I can find wherever I am. I then walk up it very quickly. If it's a long hill, my heart tries to escape my chest and my legs turn to jelly. But it is good for me, I know that by the shape of other male dog walkers of my age. Half of them are fickin big fat things and the others look like death warmed up.  ;D

That sounds like a plan.  :y
Tbh it feels like its either really doing me good, or constantly bringing me to the edge of my first heart attack. Time will tell.
Half of them are fickin big fat things and the others look like death warmed up.  ;D
I used to run (jog) up them, but one day I was really sure I was going to die  ;D

One day you'll be right. Which will be a nice, although brief, experience for you ;D

Like the man said..moderation in all things. Walking quite quickly will suffice for an old codger like me.
When I thought I might die, I was worried about what would happen to my dog. Would someone get her home...or would she be left wandering around, lost. That's when I decided not to jog any more. Poor doggie.

It was much less tiring. ;D
Lightweight.  :P ;D

Amazon Prime got back to me and said this is not the standard of service they expect for their customers, and they are deeply sorry.

Two months of 'free prime' by way of apology. :)

All you old boys seem to missing a trick.

Why not work up a sweat with a woman beneath you. Thirty or forty minutes a day will do it.

Also......less chance of catching the dreaded lurgy, or having your dog eat the flesh from your still twitching warm corpse following a heart attack.. :)

The 2.6 isn't that bad, but you only need to back it off the drive to know that it's no 3.2.
Its that bad compared to other Omega engines.  Without any shadow of a doubt the most hopeless of the V6s by some margin. Gutless. Thirsty. And we wont mention stem seals.

What next most hopeless is a toss up between the 2.5 and 3.2, depending on requirements. The 3.2 is a bit quicker but mega thirsty. The 2.5 is frugal, but a little less power.  Irrelevent anyway, as the 3.0 is almost as frugal as the 2.5, and more powerful than the 3.2, thus is the cream of the v6s

That's because your 3.2 has the wrong gearbox  ::)

That's because your 3.2 has the wrong gearbox  ::)
The gearbox has no impact on engine power. Just how much is lost, and how usable it is.  The auto is actually quicker at some speeds than the really crap, stupid, victorian manual box.

The 3.2 is a dog compared to the 3.0, and the 2.6 is a dog compared to the 2.5.  Caused by penny pinching, nought else.

So given the 3.0 is the most powerful, and pretty much matches the 2.6's economy with the same gearbox, its s no brainer.
