Manufacturers started to drop the jack plug socket on flagship mobiles around 2016 onwards, hence the wireless Apple AirPods and Samsungs Ear Buds.

Yep, no 3.5mm jack on my iPhone 11. It's the same kind of thing for the car, though. Lightning lead from phone to car USB and anything that's on the phone is now available in the car, including Google maps.

Mine can do that, whilst charging your phone and still let me plug my headphones in

It won't fold in half though, although I don't see that as a negative

Primary reason is that you no longer need an audio quality Analogue to Digital converter, all audio channels are then digital and easier/cheaper to handle

CD players got ditched as nobody wanted them anymore, demand dropped like a stone, and no suppliers would make an automotive spec player so even if you wanted to fit one, you could not source one.

In their last days they were a USB device hung of a USB hub either in the head unit, or in the user interface panel but, now no more.

Actually, my suggested solution doesn't require a 3.5mm jack at all as it connects inline to the car aerial line.

Which raises a different question... What type of aerial fittings do Citroen currently use
