Title: New Hoover - Dog compatible!
Post by: VXL V6 on 22 March 2015, 12:50:01
Anyone have any recommendations for a decent hoover that can cope with mountains of dog hair?

Our Sprollie (Springer Collie X) is losing its winter coat and our two old Hoovers tend to block up halfway through hoovering a room.

Dyson animal I guess...?

Although before the pedantic opps witts pipe up. That's a vacuum cleaner, not a Hoover.

Or a small commercial like the Numatic Henry or Harry (http://www.numatic.co.uk/products4.aspx?id=368&r=4&sr=1)

We have several cats ,and bought a new Dyson Animal 33 last year.

Clears all hair in just a single pass from carpet and flotex flooring..great bit of kit, wish we had bought 1 ages ago .Not cheap though :o

I do rate the Henry's

I have an original 'Metal' Henry that does garage type jobs, hard to beat for everyday use.......... :y We have a Hoover upright, which works well but it is heavy, recently also bought a Dyson, Battery powered Vac, 'Animal'? works well but animal hair gets stuck in the 'bin' and needs a pencil to help empty it. We use this on a regular basis and use the Hoover now and then to give a deep clean............. :y

Got a Sebo here, not don't think it's a pet specific one, but worked well enough with our two when we had them, that said Tibetan Terriers aren't big moulters...

It's going to need to be an upright with a carpet beater.

Those dyson animals are the same as other dysons except the included tools (ie, has a small head with a beater in)

Another Sebo X4 Pet here....although think they may be lower power now.
A great cleaner, but very unstable when using the tools, a minor inconvienience.

In my experience people don't realise just how mediocre Dysons,Henrys etc etc. are until they try a Sebo or possibly a Meile.
The difference is night and day.
Interesting to note that Sebo non upright (cant remember the correct term) have motorised cleaning heads (aka carpet beater), via an electric cable which runs along the tube between the machine and cleaning head.
