Omega General Help / SKF Cambelt kits ?
« on: 02 January 2026, 22:58:32 »
Do we know if they are ok ?
Previously Ive always used Gates or Contitech, but they seem to be very expensive now.
SKF are more reasonably priced.

As above. Im not in a great hurry for it as I will probably do the job after the Winter, but just putting feelers out in case someone has one they want rid of.
I already have the big ( 30mm iirc) spanner, just need the locking / setting tools.

General Car Chat / Grandland 1.2 cambelt problems
« on: 26 December 2025, 10:39:42 »
Had to feel sorry for our maintenance bloke. He just turned up at work to borrow the company Dacia Duster because his Grandland packed up on him yesterday as he was on his way to spend the day with his Daughter and Grandchild.
He sat at the side of the A12 for five hours until he got recovered home.
He says the recovery bloke diagnosed the cambelt has jumped teeth, which was why the engine died.
Its four years old and he bought it 15 months ago. Its only covered 55 thousand miles and  he says the interval is supposed to be 100 thousand.
Hes thinking about spending a couple of grand or so having a recon engine fitted.
Dont suppose anyone knows much about these little contraptions ?
Safe engine ? Worth fitting another belt and timing it up to see if he got away with it ?
Personally I think I would be having a bloody good moan at Vauxhall as it only has 55 thousand miles on the clock.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / heated seat elements.
« on: 04 April 2025, 20:07:53 »
I have just bought a pair of new, old stock genuine GM heated seat elements for nest to nothing from ebay.
Not sure if they are for prefacelift or facelift seats, or even if there is a difference.
Part number is 90458941, if anyone has access to info on that kind of thing ?
If they are suitable for a facelift, I suppose the next question will be - is it practical to dismantle my drivers seat to replace the heating element ?

The sub human piece of scum who was the "father" of the little girl who got beaten by him systematically for years until she died, an then left her body in the house and cleared off to Pakistan.
His fellow prisoners have got to him in jail and inflicted various injuries on him.
Best news Ive heard today. Long may it continue. I hope is life is a living hell on earth for the rest of his days.
Boiling water with sugar mixed in, on a daily basis will do nicely.  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear fog lights.
« on: 14 December 2024, 16:35:47 »
They arent working. But telltale light on dash lights up ok. First two things that sprung to mind were a fuse and the wiring at the boot lid which can break down over the years with opening / closing of the boot.
two or three possible fuses, although Im pretty sure F28 is the correct one, but all fuses ok.
Traced the wiring from boot lid back into the car and it connects just above the spare wheel. Seems to be no power getting to the connector.
This is all on the assumption that the live wire is blue black and brown is 0v (earth).
Any ideas / info / knowledge appreciated.

Should have checked all lights a week ago, and then might have fixed the issue and not got an MOT fail. :-[

General Car Chat / Mighty Signum for sale.
« on: 05 November 2024, 10:07:10 »
On another forum I frequent there is a Mighty Signum Elegance for sale. Only covered 96k miles.
It happens to be in Lincolnshire.  ::)
The price ?         £350.
Just thought I would post it up on here as one of our members from that neck of the woods has a bit of a penchant for these highly sought after classics.  :)
Cant post a link as the For Sale section is only viewable by members.
