One "easy" option would be the crank case breather, unless you already haven´t clean up the breaher box behind the block and the valve above plenum?

There are good instructions for cleaning it up by the way ;)

Thanks, yes I did look at the breather box and it all looked really clean, no sign of blockage. Before I refurbed the top end there was no oil burning at all, in fact never needed a top up between changes. My suspicion is that stem seals have popped off, or damaged somehow. I've heard of stem seal retainers, but can't find anything to fit this engine...

Not quite the same but a dragster failed to stop at Long Marston raceway back in the 80s and went through the fence at the top of the track. Fire marshal leapt over the fence and went through what looked like solid ground up to his waist, it was the crust on top of the slurry pit!!

But he is still a felon.  ;D
Which is just ridiculous.

All it does is confirm that the judge was told to give a particular judgement and handed down the sentence that he felt best reflected the stupidity.

The only way he could have made more of a mockery of the hearing would have been to make it a suspended unconditional discharge.

Hi all, any engine experts here?
Last year I rebuilt the top end of my X25XE but within a short time it was burning oil. This happened mainly after a period at idle, at traffic lights for example, blue smoke and that telltale smell.
All seems to point at stem seals, but I had replaced all these! What could've gone wrong?
I've just started stripping the engine again, and with the inlet manifold off I can see what looks like traces of oil sitting on top of some of the inlet valves. Is this normal, or should they be perfectly dry? All the plugs look black, and some slightly oily, but prior to stripdown I ran the engine at idle for 15 minutes.
Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated :-)

Been sidetracked in Phoenix the last few days and got home to see the news.

Have been fortunate to spend a fair amount of time in LA last year, over a month in total, and usually have an explore around, including a few drives up and around the Pacific Palisades area... Last time in November was a particularly special day, and we drove from Beverley Hills along Sunset Boulevard down to the coast, literally chasing sunset.

Saw a news crew doing the same drive through Pacific Palisades immediately after the fire went through and I have no words ;(

Apparently the local reservoir had been drained for maintenance but the water company hadn't bothered telling anyone.

Howdo Josh, glad you're doing ok.  :y

Thank you! I was just thinking, must be 6 or 7 years since I last saw you when I bought a 3.2 Elite estate from you! I'm ashamed I can't remember the reg, was it a 2003 '52'?

It was November 2019 when you were over my place so not quite as long ago as you thought.  :y  Reg was KR52 BWO and I still miss the old girl at times. It was about for a couple more years but then went off the radar.  ;(  (Yes, I stalked it on the .gov site to see if it was still being looked after)  ::)   :)

Be careful they sometimes break before the bearing comes out.

First day at their rented house 70 years ago , my dad went out into the back garden. A football came over the fence. Can we have our ball back mister? Dad apparently bounded down the garden and leapt up the “ hill” only to find himself up to his waist  in the human dung heap. My mum recounted the story many times. She knew what it was!

Johnny - yes, that's absolutely the car! Someone has looked after it, last reg'd keeper was in Swindon, but I didn't recognise the name or remember having seen the car before!

I saw it listed on BCA, so presumed it was the same car. Following the sale I didn't see it appear on Ebay or A/T.  I was  little curious I guess as to where it had gone - hoping it hadn't been purchased to be broken for spares, so it's good to see that it may be looked after - for the short term at least! What do you propose to do with it?
[/quote]

Good questions, so I bought it slightly on a whim, as you know, I sell cars day to day, but have not had an Omega for many years, cheap cars for me are not viable to sell. Selling a £1k-£3k really is'nt easy. My price point is typically £6,000-£35,000.

I bought this Omega, because it was the 3.2 Elite, and a friends daughter needs a bit of direction. She will be working with me, just on this vehicle to essentially learn the benefits of hard work and why having a network of people you trust in your business dealings can be vital. She'll get 50% of any profit.

Until I'd driven it yesterday I was unsure what to do with it. I was expecting it to be poor, drive poorly and generally feel unloved. The paintwork is poor, (lacquer peel) so I suspected the car in whole would be bad.

Surprisingly it was very good, it feels like an Omega I would have sold back in 2009. Small things like, working ash tray, plenum caps present, working air con, two like new keys, smooth engine, drives very straight, good suspension with no knocks has made me decide to invest in it and return it to as good as is possible.

I will sell it, but I will have all the paint work sorted, cam belt change, and a service and present it in the way it deserves. I'll be sensible in the sale price.

Happy to share price paid via PM.
