Self levelling saloon rear shock absorber wanted
« on: 02 October 2024, 15:50:40 »

Bit of a long shot, but has anyone got a new (old stock) self levelling rear shock absorber for a saloon that they would he willing to sell? I have one new one, but obviously to make it a pair would be ideal.
GM part no. 72119084 (Opel 436163), but an earlier GM no. was 72118768. From memory they don't have the part no. on the label, but their production no. 9127829 just to help identification  if you have one lurking in your shed....
Just to throw it out there, I would also buy a new estate self levelling rear shock absorber - one or a pair. Again I have already have one new one, so to make a pair would be good!
GM part no 72119085 (Opel 436164), with the earlier part no. 72118797.
Many thanks...

Wouldnt mind a single used one myself if I could find- one. I have my originals in the shed but one of them burst its bladder.

Apologies for the hijack.

Friendly Google isn't unfortunately. Those shocks for the estate have been unavailable at Autovaux for probably 2 years or more. I rang them ages ago to ask to be told NLA.
All the parts searched on the correct GM numbers just brings up standard shocks on sites such as Ebay and that annoying Autodoc site. Even suppliers in the USA say discontinued.... :'(
Not sure I'd be happy buying from a Russian or Ukraine site at this moment, although I have previously with no problems.

Different specification shocks for any given body style IE HD or LSC will also have different parts numbers so not sure what point you're trying to make beyond having a dig.

I only mentioned it because someone reading this thread might be led to believe that saloon and estate rear shocks are interchangeable. Which they're not ;)

I think I made the point clear that saloon and estate are different and the part numbers I was wanting to get in my first post on this subject.
Which made your comments unnecessary.
But you do like getting your sixpenn'th in.
Maybe you should read the initial post on this topic properly before launching in with your comments and then back pedalling with the irrelevant points about differences in body styles.
The part numbers were in the initial post - that's it.
End of.
So unless you have anything constructive to say about the actual parts referred to then don't bother saying anything.

And I wasn't having dig....
