3.2 has the y shape pipe. Two big ones go on the outside.

Then the two middle ones are a different size, one won't fit on tother.

Where the breather pipes removed at the other end?

Cheers for that, I''ll go check when I'm on my break shortly! :y

The only thing I'm not 100% about is the 4 pipes on the back of the plenum. I'm sure I put them on the right way round, but how do I know if they are the correct way?   ???

Did the car over heat? ....as a result if the failed oil cooler perhaps?

The car has never overheated in my ownership. Did run for a while with oil in the coolant until I found out what was causing it, although it was getting flushed every week to keep on top of it.  ???

Tell me about it.

No oil in the coolant, crystal clear in that sense, although that reminds me. Need to change the HBV as I'm losing coolant too, lol.

It was suggested that it could be the oil seals in the pistons and the cats are dealing with it prior to it leaving the tail pipe??
No idea, as thats above my head.

The other point made, could a breather pipe be split or not connected and the oil evaporating off?

I don't know, but would of though in that case I'd have a residue or burning smell still/leaking on the floor??

I'm pretty sure I put it all the breather system back together the right way. not noticed any pipes hanging loose etc.

I'm losing about 5 ltrs in about 6 weeks. Almost a litre a week  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Omega General Help / Oil Loss??
« on: 04 August 2014, 12:33:01 »
Hi all,

I changed my oil cooler due to it mixing with my coolant. Up until then, I had no loss of oil.

Since changing the cooler and putting it back together, I'm losing oil fairly rapidly   :'(

There is no sign of oil on the floor, no smell of burning oil, no smoke coming through the air vents and no visible blue smoke from the tail pipe?

I'm getting good mpg, idles ok and starts pretty much first time every time on the button.

Any ideas please?

TIA :y

Double check all electrical connections, dual ram at rear of plenum can be easily missed  :y

Is that the large plug right at the back? If so, I did connect it, but I'll go and check it's still is  :y

Omega General Help / Spanner light
« on: 05 May 2014, 13:12:58 »
Hi all,

After having made a first attempt at changing an oil cooler yesterday, I refilled the cooling system with water and cleaner and refilled the oil.

Car started after a few attempts and ticks over fine.

Unfortunately I now have a spanner light lit up??

Using my Sealey code reader, it's says there are no codes, but if I select clear codes, the light goes out, but then a few seconds later, comes back on ???

Any suggestions as to what maybe causing this please?

TIA :y

I'm waiting on a mate dropping a socket round for me along with the sealant. Spent the rest of the day cleaning the manifold, plenum and fuel rail.

Need to take the coolant header tank off next to clean all the c@@p out of it!!

 :y

Also if you can get your hands on an oil removal pump stick the tube down the front of the cooler space there will be a hole right down to the water pump that way you will clear most of the crud out of the block.  :y

I don't own one unfortunately and it's a bit late now. I've just finished putting the engine back together again. First time in my life I'm not left with any spare parts, nuts or bolts so that's a good start!!

It's gonna be an agonising wait now til tomorrow when I refill the oil and water ready to start her up. Well I hope she starts ;D ;D ;D

Might be wrong, but I believe it's your can sensor failing.

Lift youre bonnet and the sensor is at the FRONT top part of engine,,underneath black plastic cover saying ecotec on....the wire to it is going in where the cut out on cover is.   about 10 minutes to change it

They'll be an expert on shortly to confirm or deny ::)

HTH's :y

So pour in hot water, washing powder and some rice and run as normal before flushing the system out?

I was going to use water mixed with Traffic Film Remover.

Is either or just as good?
