General Discussion Area / ASDA parking ticket
« on: 02 November 2013, 21:36:28 »
I received a letter today from Smart Parking Ltd with two lovely pictures of my car and demand for £70.00 for 'Over Free Time' ???
Apparently I was sat in my local ASDA car park (I never leave the car on shopping trips) from 10:31:22hrs to 16:26:42hrs! After recovering from the Apoplectic Fit I telephoned the Store and a nice Lady by the name of Lynne is going to help me sort it on Monday :)
Whatever the outcome, Smartarse Parking can whistle in wind for 'their' money! ;D

General Discussion Area / Dog Attack Update
« on: 31 October 2013, 10:12:21 »
Firstly, apologies for leaving this hanging for so long :-[
I had a call from Mike (Vamps) out of the blue the other day which really touched me (i'm already 'touched' as some of you have already guessed! ;)) and was much appreciated by all here, and reinforced my view that the OOF Spirit really is alive & well and something really special!
I am pleased to say that Steven is doing well although he has an infection in his right hand which is proving difficult to get rid of and sadly he will have a permanent legacy from the attack with some loss off dexterity in the fingers of his right hand and numbness due to the large amount of lost flesh & muscle there. He has asked me to pass on his sincere thanks for all your thoughts & good wishes and myself and Sylvia his mum add ours to his also.
I won't be around as much for a while as I have ongoing health issues of my own but will be lurking from time to time and no doubt will be sticking my oar in & putting my foot in my mouth if a post catches my attention  :D
In closing, I must say that it is both a Priviledge and a Pleasure to know all of you and also to be a member of the great family community that the OOF undoubtedly still is! Kindest regards, Phil :y

General Discussion Area / Dog Attack
« on: 08 October 2013, 19:13:35 »
My youngest lad has been attacked by his friends Japanese Akita and badly savaged! The dog attacked him without warning or provocation and he had to beat it repeatedly over the head with a Stilson wrench to get it to leave go, but not before it had badly torn his left forearm, then did the same to his right arm and also took a huge chunk of flesh down to the bone and swallowed it! He was in severe shock and fainting with blood loss when we got to the local clinic which passes for an A&E in our pisspot town and I had to follow the ambulance the 15 miles to Middlesbrough as there was no room for me as he was accompanied by a Doctor, nurse & swmbo. Just as we were leaving the town the ambulance driver suddenly put on the Blues & Two's and put his foot to the floor and I almost swallowed my heart! I stuck to that ambulance like bloody glue and god only knows how many speeding points i've accrued today but I will deal with that if/when it happens. He has been in Surgery over 3 1/2 hours now & they can't say when they will be finished, so we have come home to see to the dogs and wait on tenderhooks hoping the damage can be repaired. It never rains but it pours! It was only yesterday I welcomed Ozzycat back to fold after his troubles and now it's our turn again! :(

Omega General Help / 2.2i petrol omega saloon
« on: 13 September 2013, 20:25:44 »
Well my idiot youngest stepson appears to have killed my old Desmond saloon! >:(
He only had it a month & blew the head gasket! I had the head skimmed (for the second time :o) more in desperation than in hope of a good outcome. When refitted it would not idle & to all intents & purposes sounded like the timing was badly out & misfiring (neither was the case!) and the new gasket failed almost immediately! Thinking this was due to to the head being skimmed too much, I bought a replacement from Steve at Omegaspareparts which came without cams. I had the stem seals renewed, valves lapped etc & the head checked for Plane Surface & pressure tested (all ok) The replacement head was fitted & a new waterpump, belt & tensioners fitted. The timing was carefully set & checked & we fired her up. What a sickener that was!, she needed several tries before spluttering & farting to an appallingly rough idle on the verge of stalling all the time and the same symptoms of extremely rough running as if the engine wanted to shake itself loose! I have checked everything several times over now, fitted new Bosch plugs, checked the timing until i'm sick of checking but still no fix! Anyone have any ideas? :'(

Omega General Help / Head Gasket Torquing
« on: 03 September 2013, 17:46:04 »
Can some knowledgeable Gent answer this querie?
When Torquing the Omega Head to a new gasket, do you allow a 'rest' period between each torque application?; my 2.2 needs torquing to 25Nm + 90deg + 90deg +90deg+15deg. Do I need to wait for the gasket to settle before applying each new force :-\
All replies gratefully received, as always :y

This programme has caught me at a low ebb on three successive occassions now and i'm not afraid to say I quite enjoy it!
Plus Julie Walters reminds me of my Sainted late Mother :-*
Needless to say on each occassion I have been well fortified with the Demon Drink, is that an acceptable excuse :-\
I'm in the mood for Love (but not dancing!);D ;)

General Discussion Area / Pigs Ears
« on: 28 August 2013, 13:26:02 »
Swmbo bought our Jackies a treat today, pigs ears! (doggy yum yum)
when I started to hand them round I pulled one out of the packet & it still had the plastic I.D. tag through the ear! :D
Now normally I don't think twice about the source of meat/derivatives etc; but when you find a bit with the 'Birth Certificate' attached it makes it a bit more personal :(
Sausage & mash for Tea too ;) ;D
