Those useless knobjockeys at Enterprise car rental have given my colleague a milk float ;D
It supposed to do 150 miles between charges, but he didn't make it beyond Oxford Services before playing chicken, only to find that the only unused, non Tesla charging point was out of order, so had to wait for somebody to finish before he could start charging.
So he arrives in Londonium nearly 5 hours after setting out, on what should be a sub 3 hour drive, and very late for a meeting with a support engineer. Sorts the system out, drives about 2km to the next site, to do the same. None of these sites have nearby charging points.
So now he's just called me, driving fully clenched, at very economical speeds, praying he'll make Beaconsfield services. If he does make it, he'll have the joy of having to recharge again before Birmingham, and then recharge again before handing it back to Enterprise.
Apparently, this is the future we want ;D

If my memory serves me correctly Oxford Services have 16 Tesla chargers but only 4, maybe 5, chargers for other vehicles.
Whatever time of day I go there it’s like a Tesla Tea Party, with most of the owners sat in their vehicles drinking coffee or eating and just waiting until they have enough charge to leave. Then you have more waiting to charge. There is/was a notice outside the hotel/motel asking guests to move their Tesla to a standard bay when their app let them know it was fully charged, so if you see anyone in their Jim Jams in the car park in the early hours you’ll know what they are up to and not just assume that they have escaped from somewhere. ;D
As you say, this is the future. ::)

It my future, fortunately. I am too old/old enough to be in a position to drive a diesel for the rest of my driving life.

I'm told the charge rate slows down as the PP9 becomes more charged.
So getting the last 10% can take forever and a day pissing off the people waiting in the queue for a quick top up to get them to wherever they are going.

Already about 1200 of these in China. A battery swap takes 4 minutes 40 seconds including getting the car lined up. :y

If you watch the Nio marketing video, when you purchase a Nio you get a choice of buying it with the battery, which obviously becomes your battery to charge at home/out and about as and when, or lease a battery and use the exchange system shown in the video. :y

Yup, a million Tesla chargers round the back, 4 normal chargers out the front, not that I've frequented that establishment for nearly 2 weeks ;D

Don't forget service and maintenance costs of our future, as at least 1 auto manufacturer states 3 technicians are needed when working on the HV side - one to do the work, one as a second set of eyes, and a 3rd with a hook to pull them off when it goes wrong.
On the upside, I see they do burn* well.... ;D
*Or Thermal Events, as DTM's lot calls them.

Yup, a million Tesla chargers round the back, 4 normal chargers out the front, not that I've frequented that establishment for nearly 2 weeks ;D
Mind you, not so long back the bank started to slide on that side of the car park.... Imagine returning to your Tesla smug because it's charged only to discover a ton of earth surrounding it!

So, due to our electric future, it took my colleague 15hrs to replace 2 hot plug drives in Londonium ;D
He weren't happy, and by all accounts my laughing wasn't appreciated ;D
