And this following 13 years of Conservative government. :-X

A few of them are from Ukraine and Hong Kong. But, yes, another city sized addition to our population.

At this rate we'll soon start to see brown faces in our TV adverts. ::)
-
Then we have to add the 90% young men who arrive by rubber boat.
-
I'm past caring, none of them want to come to Barnsley.

Barnsley can't be that bad. 8)

Predicted to be around 750,000 this year. And the morons cant join the dots when they complain about overwhelmed schools, hospitals, roads, etc. etc.
But yes, for this to happen after 13 years of the Tories in Govt.demonstrates that the conservatives (and Unionists) in the party, have been kept well away from power.

I think your mate Tony Blair has a lot to answer for. He started the numbers rising in about 2004. ::)

He did indeed, and it turns my stomach now to hear the hypocrisy of Labour blaming it all on the Tories, as though its a recent thing.
The Tories should have sorted the problem long ago, but they clearly dont want to.
Im not generally a conspiracy theorist, but........... ::)

Both Boris and Rishi are quite comfortable with huge numbers of people coming from abroad, regardless of what they say.
Most will be unskilled and on low wages which will get 'topped up' by British taxpayers. The vast majority (especially those arriving by rubber boat) will not be doctors, teachers, or similar.
Also, the larger the population becomes the more the government will 'import' low wages workers from far away lands.
It creates a vicious never-ending circle of imported labour.....legal or otherwise.
It's a clusterf*uck.
-
Since 1997 the population has increased by about 10 million, which is the equivalent of Sweden or Austria moving here. ::)
So it's no wonder that the sewage treatment works get overwhelmed and they have to dump into the rivers as that's a lot of extra shit to deal with! :o

We should have voted for Brexit , that way we would have been able to control our borders , Oh we did >:(

The unskilled low paid notion is bullshit. If we had unskilled low paid people to spare, we wouldn't be in half the shit we are now.

Our homegrown unskilled workers are too idle to work. And who can blame them when our benefit system is so generous?
We're the stupid ones ;)

Exactly. :y
We have over 2.5 million people " on the sick" ffs.

......so we 'import' more people from abroad to service the extra population....and so it goes on.
As Albitz says, we have a large population of unemployed (and perhaps unemployable) in this country we could bring into play but the Tories tend to like cheap labour in the form of the great unwashed and no associated training costs, so they are quite happy to keep using foreign workers. As TB mentions some native brits won't work for the money offered by some business owners.

One major employment problem we have in the UK is that the government allows too many rogue companies to pay extremely low wages that are then topped up (subsidised) by the taxpayer.
My view is that if you can't pay your workers a decent wage then you shouldn't be in the business of employing people.
Good companies do not rely on the taxpayer to pay a proportion of their employees wages. They pay themselves.

Minimum wage/living wage only makes it worse because it allows companies to hold wages down rather than paying fair market rate.
