I still use the factory one in the S Class, but use the phone in the Bini/hire cars as they have Android Auto facilities.
Which uses the phone GPS.  Which then becomes a problem.
Not experienced any particular issues with it :-\

Sounds like the extractor vents may be blocked or shut causing pressure build up

Sorry, I meant nearside top half of rear window.

Also, when it's making the noise, turning the climate fan down to 1 seems to stop the noise, turning up to 3 or higher seems to bring it on.  2 seems a bit inconclusive.

Separating out into a new thread.

Got an intermittent buzzing from somewhere in the back, I believe to be in area of rear headlining or rear window, sounds like an airy wasp stuck in a confined space, or a relay chattering at high frequency.

Remove sigma pod containing the GPS antenna and DAB Band-L receivers, as it appeared to be coming from that area, and putting pressure on PCB changed the tone or eliminated it.

After a test drive with it removed the noise is definitely still there.

I had it present for long enough to do further tests.  The noise disappears if:
any window slightly open
and door open
sunroof tilted or open
climate turned off
pressure applied to OS top of rear window and/or that area of roof.

Can it be cabin pressure in the car?

Actually, I'll start a new thread, as I have a feeling this might go on....

I was impressed with how the accuracy of the navigation system is with the GPS antenna disconnected.  Over 30 miles driven, and its still cock-on :)

Dead reckoning working then
Impressively well. Done a few more miles today, trying to confuse it by putting it sideways everywhere - an nearly caught out by some traffic lights round Ginger Spice's country gaff.

Only to find the noise is definitely still there.
