Couple of ads on tv today.

MILD hybrid car. Who would that appeal to? Imagine down the pub. My car is a mild hybrid!

MEDIUM cider. Still in the same pub. Pint of medium cider please?  ;D

It's the "self-charging Hybrid" that makes me laugh. Like it's a selling point!

"Fossil fuel charging Hybrid" doesn't sound quite as green, I suppose. ;D

Unfortunately there are many fools who don’t even understand that, and that is another reason why this bullshit is taking root.

I think pretty much all cars are MHEV these days, it just means it has a Belt Integrated Starter Generator and so harvests power under braking and dumps a few horse power back in to smooth things off at gearchanges and pulling away, not much of a selling point for those in the know  ;D

Yes, it's just a petrol car with an additional transmission system. Non-Germans would then ask 'why would you do that?'

Is it also a fact that they are only good for very few miles under electric power?

That's down to battery size and longevity. It's enough to mooch around town, which, to be fair, is when an internal combustion engine is at its most inefficient. Especially when cold.

So actually, for the intended application, it makes sense.  ;)

A mate who has a plug in hybrid, got it as his work is abut 3.5 miles from home.  He is not allowed to charge at work.

In the winter, his supposed 30 mile pure electric range isn't enough to get to work and back.  And his driving style makes tunnie look like a boy racer.

So, no, they ain't much cop for town use either.

Eurovision. Is it news? I thought it was just another Pride event for the FoD, not the main headline on the BBC.

Who gives a shit?

Currently waiting for a parcel from Useless Parcel Shysters myself. They did manage to get it as far as Southampton before declaring that my address doesn't exist and returning it to the sender. ::)
